@Joeynator3000
The cake board was in the original, if my memory serves. I remember playing on it on one of the N64 games, at least.
I am so excited for this game! My family and friends are gonna have an absolute blast with this. This is like... top 3 things at E3 for me. That's both sad and hysterical lol
@rallydefault You're right, it was in Mario Party 1.
And yeah I'm super excited for it as well! The only thing that'd make it even better for me is if they add a few boards from any of the GameCube Mario Party games. One example being Toy Dream from Mario Party 5.
This is just the 3DS collection, right? With 5 added boards, wich is a very measly effort if you take in account all the boards they could have chosen from. Nah, likely not buying it.
@Henmii
I'm under the impression it's the boards plus all the classic minigames from the first era. I don't know what it is about this announcement, but I feel they weren't very clear with exactly what this is lol
The mini games seem to come from all the games from 1 to 7, kinda similar to Top 100 on the 3DS, but stopping right before the era of Motion Controls™️.
So, while there will absolutely be overlap with the games they remade for Top 100, no, it’s not gonna be a remaster of the 3DS game.
It would be cool if they added some games from the handheld games too. Mario Party DS had some good ones that used only buttons.
It bugs me to no end that they chose 3 games and took 5 maps from them. I hope they add another MP3 board at some point to make it even, also because the old games had 6 maps each.
Otherwise, this might be the first Mario Party I buy since 6. That game came out in 2004, so its been a long time.
I have an unused NSO voucher with this game's name on it if it turns out to be good enough. It's a pretty fool-proof concept so hopefully it turns out okay but Nd Cube are yet to develop a Mario Party game that isn't bad to terrible though so not going to get my hopes up yet.
@WoomyNNYes the mario party games don't follow a continuity, each game is like its own box of toys.
In the case of these two, Super Mario Party uses motion controls and new gameplay, and Superstars uses traditional old school Mario Party minigames and boards.
Oh am I happy that they brought back Horror Land. When I and family/friends played MP2 it was the only board were played. Our absolute favourite map of all Mario Partys! Love it!
GameXplain uploaded a video of all 100 minigames. Pretty good roster overall (Mario Party 3 has the highest amount of minigames here), though I would have replaced Pokey Pummel with...something else that doesn't require button mashing. Thank goodness The Beat Goes On didn't make the cut. lol
I have never played any Mario Party game and now I am confused. I already get that this is a new game rather than a DLC pack and that it's rehashed old content instead of new stuff and that the older one doesn't have online. But still, if I was to get just one of them, which one? Online play is not a factor for me. Getting both seems like a waste of time and money.
I’m not entirely sure what’s so confusing though, or why would you need both.
Think of it like this… When you go to a store and see they have Monopoly Gamer and Monopoly Casino, do you need to own both? No, just look at the boxes, read how they’re different from each other, and pick the one you like the most.

That's even more confusing because now you're implying it's the same game under a different name. And as someone who has no experience with the series how do I know which I would like the most? I am asking which one is better suited for a newcomer.
@SmaggTheSmug You should get Superstars. It's literally better then Super Mario Party in every way. You can use any controller you have instead of just a joycon on it's side, it has more boards, the minigames seem to be better, and the modes seem to be good as well.
I am a piece of bread, and I love playing 3D World.
The Switch is one of the best consoles ever.
I'm guessing people will make a lot of jokes about my username.
@SmaggTheSmugMonopoly Casino and Monopoly Gamer are two very different games under the Monopoly franchise, see why would it be important to compare them? You can't just assume they're the same game only because they are part of the same franchise.
Both games provide a similar, but different experience. The only who can decide which one you'd like more, is you.
