Seeing as a thread doesn't exist for this series (?), I thought I'd make one after noticing something rather peculiar about my Japanese physical copy of the game, which includes all three currently-available Switch instalments plus an exclusive mobile port of what I can only assume is the first game released back in 2008 (designed for pre-smartphones), which was a welcome surprise (albeit the latter is in Japanese only).

Also curious is that the physical release consolidates all four games into a single launcher, rather than spawning numerous icons like most compilation releases. I suppose the reason for this was more pragmatic as the Japanese release of the first game was in Japanese only, while the latter two were multilingual from the get-go.

For those who are unaware, Kuukiyomi: Consider It is a series of games that put you through 100 scenarios apiece, where you have to "read the room", so to speak, and react accordingly. Do you scoot over to make room for the couple on the train? Will you move out of the way of a distracted person on their mobile phone or recklessly slam into them? Will you take your girlfriend out to see the latest romcom or to a slasher flick? You're free to experiment without penalty.

It's very WarioWare-like in that the scenarios are all brief, comical, mostly mundane, and sometimes even a little crude (being a little more risque than the former). There is not a whole lot of replay value, though additional modes are unlocked upon completion of each game, and couch multiplayer is supported.

The single-player portion of the games are about an hour each, though mileage will vary if you go ahead and explore the other modes.

This was one of very few Japanese-exclusives that captured my imagination when I had stumbled across the first game in the Japanese eShop, and I was glad to see it eventually make its way westward.

Any thoughts? Keen to see more from the series?

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
