@FGPackers Yup! It's definitely weird that it came up only just now. It could be a specific batch having the issue, or it's a software issue that will be patched quick.
I question why this isn't an issue with any other console, which I assume these press people play in similar conditions. Why is the Joy Con the first to give them issues.
These kinds of issues are very effective at deflating hype. ;p
All kinds of fumbles can happen in the production stage and the specific batch might have defective parts. I would find it incredible if the issue was widespread and caused by poor hardware.
I hope it's a software issue and it can be remedied by a firmware update. Nintendo needs to address this as soon as possible.
I guess I wouldn't have the issues too often in the environment I'm mostly playing, with the docked console pretty close to where I sit.
I find it hard to believe this is an inherent defent in the hardware because it would make Mario Kart completely unplayable and I'm sure that game has gone through extensive testing.
If it is a hardware issue though next Friday Nintendo will have a lot of angry early adopters.
I was just glad that he didn't report the GameXplain news in a clickbait-y fashion. I know Blunty from his camera reviews, not sure when he jumped on the Switch bandwagon..
So it seems it's just a matter of paying attention to any obstacle to the bluetooth/wireless tech. Is it annoying? Yeah. But is it a huge problem? No. As i said: it's just a matter of paying attention, so not quite an issue to me
Honestly the whole issue seems odd. I mean I'm 90% sure it is a software issue, but then it seems some people don't have the problem. For example, I have seen maybe 1 or 2 European press reps/youtubers having the issue, but a lot of them are actually saying they have had no problems whatsoever. Haven't heard anything like this from Japan either. Seems like the problem is /mostly/ with American Switches, which is odd.
Either way, if it's really just 2-3 times in 20 hours like someone said then I don't even really care much - as long as they fix it at some point.
A lot has been made about the price of the controllers. Now that all the stores have their launch day pricing up here in Aussieland I thought I'd run through the prices again. So here we go, from low to high:
In exactly 20 hrs I'll be picking up my Switch from BestBuy.
The final countdown.... has.... begun
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
Possibly stupid question. How do I charge the controllers? I know I have to connect them to the tablet. But do I have to leave the console on while they charge. Or if I put it into sleep mode will they charge that way? I tried sleep mode but there is no indication that the joycons are charging.
At the moment I have just left the console on. I assume they are charging. But I much rather charge them in sleep mode if possible.
@ocelot20 Pretty sure they charge with the tablet when it's on the charger. Just connect the joycons to your Switch and put in the dock/plug the charger into the tablet, and they should charge.
BTW, did the day one update and restarted twice with joycons installed. Can confirm no issues with my joycons. They worked behind my back up to ten feet away.
