So, I've been playing this since last night, really loving it so far but it keeps on crashing at the loading screen when I move to a new track. Not a huge issue, I'm not losing my data or anything, but definitely a nuisance. I haven't heard about this bug anywhere, has anyone else seen it?

The game crashed for me too, it was a pain but I tolerated it as I enjoyed the game so much.

I've been getting a lot of crashes directly after I finish a race, just when it starts to save. It doesn't actually end up saving, so after I reset, I have to do the race over. I've lost 2 or 3 Super Trophies this way that I've had to re-do.

Fortunately, I love this game, so I don't really mind re-doing the races, but it would also be nice if this didn't happen.

Hopefully the devs fix it with a patch.

I love this title, it's a game with the retro gameplay of Gremlin company games like lotus spirit turbo challenge, it's fun and arcade, there are 20 cars at the start and we have to arrive first, the concept is simple but catchy as it has taken over the basics of lotus turbo challenge with modern graphics and good gameplay.

The music and background art are spot on. That alone will help me see the end of this.

How you going with World Tour, @JasmineDragon ?

They picked out some great and diverse locales to race on.

@bixente Trying to catch up with your times, actually! Apparently you're the only one of my Switch friends who is playing this game. (If you were wondering, I'm "Vixen" with a Zelda icon.)

I'm still trying to get out of South Africa. I'm spending about half my time trying to get better scores in World Tour and half in Tournament with my kid.

I agree, the locations are great. For a game that's not meant to be a realistic racing sim, they did a great job giving every location its own flavor that really suits the geography.

Just a heads up, new "Anniversary" season is out now with a new version of Playground. Playground now gives you rewards such as skins. I haven't got any of them yet, but the new Playground races are cool anyway.

I believe the game is also on sale now to celebrate the anniversary. If anyone out there is on the fence, go buy it now. It's an awesome game.

I’m still slowly chugging my way through the World Tour mode, but since I got the news about the Anniversary Playground, I tried out Playground mode for the first time last night. It was quite fun, and I already got the skin. Since I never played Playground until now, I hope I didn’t miss out on too many other cool goodies.

JasmineDragon

@klingki Nope, you didn't miss anything. Playground has always been just good fun, no awards or presents until nkw.

@JasmineDragon Sweet, good to know!

Just playing some more now, and I can't help thinking how I usually really despise when games use the low-poly graphical style, but I just love it in this game! All of the different cities look so good! I was thinking if there were more places added what I would want. I think for sure New York, Egypt, a bunch of places in Europe (UK, France, Italy, Russia, etc.), and Korea would be awesome. But overall, I'm happy the devs are still paying a lot of attention to this game!

I finally got.around to playing this game (being on Lockdown has done wonders for my backlog) and what a pure joy this game is. It's exactly the type of racing game I have been looking for for years now. Just something that I can pick up and play I don't have to do with extreme upgrades where I need spreadsheets to understand just something I can pick up run a few courses and feel accomplished.

Right now I am just concentrating on seeing all the courses in World Tour mode, I will go back and work on doing better once I unlock all the courses.

This game is a spiritual seccessor to the Top Gear series not sure why everyone compares it to Outrun, maybe cause that game is more well known? But it's definitely more Top Gear then Outrun IMO.

Definitely looking to sink more time into this game!!

@Tasuki The reason for that comparison is because the developers advertised it as a love letter to all these kinds of racers, and they also named Outrun, but Top Gear as well. And Lamborghini American Challenge, Chase HQ and Lotus Turbo Challenge so on. That's also where the inspiration for the name came from.

I guess they kind of took a little bit from all of these games, and then added their own improvements.

@ThanosReXXX Hmmmm that makes sense but still to me I can feel the Top Gear influence more then the other ones. Still it's an awesome game that any racing fan should have in there game collection!!

@Tasuki Coming from the Commodore Amiga (N64 was my first console ever), I always played the Lotus games. And later on, on the newer models Amiga, there was Top Gear 2, but personally, I've always compared Horizon Chase Turbo more to the Lotus games, although I do see the similarities with Top Gear as well. But truth be told, most of these games were pretty similar back then. I don't know if you also know the other games I mentioned, but they all kind of had that "inspired by Outrun" look.

Totally agreed on the game being a must-have for racing fans, though. Which is also why I own it as well...
On a side note: the same goes for 80's Overdrive, by the way.

@ThanosReXXX I never played the Lotus games since I didn't own an Amiga (my friend did but that's a other story) but Top Gear was my favorite racing on the SNES over more so the. Mario Kart and FZero. Even after the SNES generation I still looked for a racing game as much as loved Top Gear. I tried Daytona USA of course, and Ridge Racer, Burnout and even games like Gran Turismo and Forza but no racing game has come close to Top Gear for me. Heck I have a HD SNES clone that I have plugged in just to play some Top Gear when I have that itch. Honestly Horizon Chase Turbo is the first game that I can say gives me that Top Gear feeling I have been looking for. I just in fact wrapped up a 4 hour game session with my son on Horizon Chase Turbo.

I know that in away Top Gear is a spiritual seccessor to Lotus even to the fact that they recycled the soundtrack for Top Gear and of course the same composer does Horizon Chase Turbo which is another reason it gives me the Top Gear vibe.

I do hope the devs continue to support this game with new tracks and cars DLC but I guess time will tell.

@Tasuki Yeah, I can understand the connection in your case, then. For me, it's obviously the combo of having played all these games and what the developers themselves cited as inspiration, which was not just Top Gear. I'm actually all but sure that you would also appreciate the Lotus games. On Amiga, mind you. All these racers, Top Gear 2 included, were superior on the Amiga vs the SNES and Genesis/Megadrive versions. Better sound, crisper graphics and what not.

Either way, you might seriously want to consider 80's Overdrive as well, then. If you haven't already got it.

@ThanosReXXX I don't own a 3DS anymore but I will be sure to grab 80s Overdrive for Switch when it comes out next week for sure.
