My kids constantly want to switch between their accounts as they have their game saves associated with them and don't want to play each other's saved games. The home button is useless as it only brings up the option to sleep. They are driving me crazy flipping open the hinged cover for the game and popping it out. I'm sure the will break it or wear it out prematurely. With the PS4 you just hold the package button and get the options to change users. Am I missing something or is this thing faulty and in need of a software update?
@Gtlaw A quick press of the home button will bring up the full menu. Holding it a little longer gives you the quick menu on the side of the screen - it sounds like that's what you're seeing.
Just press the home button and you'll go into the home menu. What you/your kids seem to be doing is holding it down for a second or two, which activates the side menu with the Sleep Mode option.

It actually works mostly the same as PS4. On PS you do have a "change users" on the quckbar. On Switch the quickbar only has power and audio options.
On PS4 you're "logging out" and "logging in" as a new user on the system when you change users. On Switch you're re-launching the game as a different user (like "Run As" on Windows servers, or sudo on Linux.) So on PS4 from home or quick bar you change users, and it takes you back to the user screen where you change the user currently on the system.
On Switch you never log in as a single user, the home screen is universal. When you launch a game you're asked which user to launch it as. On Switch, tap home, and hover over the game's tile. The screen shows you you can hit X to close the application or Y to change user. It will relaunch the game and prompt you for which user to run as.
