Hi I have purchased this and it’s a great game from what I have played. It doesn’t seem to be very clear on a couple of things and I’m stuck so wondering if anyone has played this yet?
@ColePhelps1942 sorry about late reply!
Yes absolutely it’s worth getting, from what I’ve played, it’s the real deal.
There are a few bugs and it crashed on me once in handheld but nothing game breaking so far.
The ambience is fantastic and it does not hold your hand. I, stuck at one point but Idk anyone else who has played it yet!
Ok after playing this more there is a fantastic game here, there are some bugs which defo need to be sorted. My camera stopped working and I restarted a new game but it’s fun and there is a lot to it. It’s a bit like state of decay in the Mechanics and there is a lot of things at your disposal.
There are some things I wish they would add like the ability to sleep or rest as it would defo add to the experience.
I would defo recommend it to anyone who likes a survival mystery game that is not action heavy constantly although this does have that I am very early in the game as it does seem huge as there is a lot to see!
I picked this game up on release day, and I'm having a great time playing it. I really like the creepy vibe it's been giving me. The atmosphere reminds me of Silent Hill, and that's one of my favorite horror franchises of all time. I don't know if I would really consider it a horror game, but I definitely have had some tense moments playing it!
@SnarkyJay defo enjoying it too! If this run butter smooth with no bugs at all ( this can easily be fixed with a patch) it would be one of the best games on the App Store. It does need a little tweaking but right now it’s an 8 out of 10 for me. Also it does have a great atmosphere!
@JHDK defo, I’m looking forward to a review but I think it won’t be great because of some of the issues?
It’s kept me engaged for hours so far so it’s doing something right!
@Deathwalka I decided to take the plunge and I bought it before I went to bed last night. Hopefully I'll have the time to start playing sometime tonight. The PC version reviews seemed fair. Nothing too amazing but this looked good to me so slightly above average reviews are good enough for me to give it a try.
There also aren't too many videos of the game running on Switch yet. I watched about 10 mins. of this one to get a sense of how it runs on Nintendo's machine:
Seems like there are no major issues. Hopefully I don't run into the crashing issue you talked about but if it only happens once or twice it is manageable.
@JHDK I have been playing on Switch for many hours now, and the performance has been good. There are a few loading screens that pop up in the open world, but other than that it's been smooth. I had one crash, but I think it happened because I left the game running for a really long time when the Switch went to sleep. I haven't encountered a crash during normal play. Now, when I'm not going to be playing for several hours, I simply save and quit. This seems to avoid most of the issues people have had.
@JHDK it’s defo above average, and I personally would recommend it anybody.
The problems I have encountered but are not major are, the roads are difficult to see when driving but you can argue that it’s actually realistic to a real snow storm.
Some things you can’t click on without being at the right angle...
Loading times when your moving into another area it will go into a loading screen for a minute.
Not very clear on how to use the manual, as I didn’t realise you can fast move to a section by highlighting the picture or story’s....
What I personally encountered above still makes me give this game an 8 as of right now, as to me they were not game breaking. This is why I originally said if this run butter smooth ( it runs smooth enough by the way) and didn’t have the few bugs it would be in my top 10 games for sure.
The ambiance is brilliant, how you get to decide where you want to investigate makes it non linear, and there is many items to use and things can easily be missed if you don’t investigate properly.
Really looking forward to what you think, I think it’s a shame that not many people seem to be playing it?
@SnarkyJay it be nice to think that they may update it with more content? The game has a lot of potential so I’m intrested in seeing the review for this.
@Deathwalka I would probably give the game an 8 out of 10. This game is right up my alley. I really like the desolate creepy atmosphere. I also think the survival elements are well done, and not overbearing. Some games with survival elements, you spend the whole game panicking about food, warmth, water, health, etc. This game balances the survival meters really well. Yes, you have to worry about the cold, but it's not constantly beating you over the head with it. Also, they provide you with enough options for managing your warmth, health, and sanity. This way I can enjoy my time exploring, and not panicking. I also like the fact that there is a way to defend yourself, as well as a way of avoiding most combat all together.
@SnarkyJay I agree this game has got the balance right, it has it all. I’d love to able to eat hot food, sit down or sleep, I think those Mechanics would add even more immersion for me, but I’m digressing, I also rate this as 8 out of 10
Completely agree about the creepy vibe
Well, I'm stuck. I've been playing for around 4 hours and I think I'm close to the end but right when I get to the Ice Wall I watch the vision of the 4 icemen walk into the stone and then it won't let me proceed on the snow mobile. It says,
"maybe there are more secrets to find at the crime scene, the general store"
Well I've been back to that general store and I think I searched it pretty thoroughly and I must be missing something. I even looked up a guide but it isn't very helpful.
