I made a user account on my boyfriends switch and got quite far into breath of the wild, I have now just bought a switch for myself, am I able to transfer my progress and user data across to my own switch and own account. Or do I have to use my boyfriends account on my switch?
Since you had your own profile to play it on, you should be able to transfer everything, @Amazon .... Set up a Nintendo Account, if you haven't yet & link it to your profile on the old Switch
Complete these steps:
On the source system:
From the HOME Menu, select System Settings, then Users, and then Transfer Your User Data.
Select Next, and then Next again, then select Source Console to indicate that the content will be transferred from this system.
Select Continue, and then finish the following preparations on the target system.
On the target system:
From the HOME Menu, select System Settings, then Users, and then Transfer Your User Data.
Select Next, then Next again, then select Target Console to indicate that the content will be transferred to this system.
Select Sign in and choose to sign in using your Nintendo Account e-mail address or sign-in ID.
Enter either the e-mail address or sign-in ID associated with your Nintendo Account, and the password, then select Sign in, and then Next.
On the source system:
Wait for the target system to be found, and then select Transfer.
The transfer process will begin, wait for this process to complete.
Once complete, select End to complete the process.
This information was very helpful but what can I do if I am having to return my Nintendo Switch and buy a replacement so don't have the new console to hand?? - Ideally, I would like to continue rather than lose my progress and start from scratch!
Before any returns you must have both ON-HAND to do the transfer of data otherwise if you don't you will loose all the data from the first Switch.
So Searching Google or on here is also your best friend as well. Make sure your email is your own and not the same NIN will not allow same email for different NIN accounts. So if not sure read on NIN FAQ support this is a wealth of information.
