Topic: has game makers maxed out the switch graphics?

as said before this is my first nintindo and i totaly love it. im wondering if the switched is maxed out or can it even get better graphics? i recall my ps3 wasnt maxed out till like 4 years after it was released.

For pure polygon pushing and fidelity juggling, I dare say no console ever gets maxxed (maybe the SNES that started introducing extra chips in the carts...) and as for style...that never gets capped and is always changing. So difficult question to answer, There is usually someone that creates something that wows you. Dying Light is very impressive. Does it max out the Switch...no idea, and if I'm honest, not something I find important, but I would guess probably not. It might max out programming tricks at the moment until someone finds another one

@thiz Sounds like an issue with the developer of that DS remaster considering how well Doom and the Witcher run. You definitely won’t be able to fit those on a ds

@thiz What kind of garbo are you playing? Because that my friend is poorly optimized garbo. At least 99% of all Switch games do run at 720p at 30+ FPS...

Uh...Xenoblade Chronicles is a Wii game, ported to New 3DS, and remade on Switch, and no, it runs at 30 FPS with an occasional dip of 1-2 FPS every now and then. Sounds more like hardware issues on your end. It was also the most graphically impressive game on Wii, one of the few open world games on the console, and was so big it was one of only 3-4 games that utilized a dual layered dvd and was over 8 GB in size. So a few minor dips in the FPS in a vastly enhanced remake isn't that surprising...

@thiz It's only 389p in handheld mode and much higher resolution in docked mode, and you know why? So your battery doesn't run dry after 5-10 minutes of gameplay...

Sure, it isn't as powerful as GenX and P5, But Nintendo has never wanted to be like them, like at all, 30FPS is enough, and Nintendos Hardware has been fine Since 64 and gamecube. (Even early'er)

The Console is amazing for a Nintendo console. Its like saying the ps5 and Xbox X is bad just because it can't meet PC standard's.

@thiz Uh have you seen Nintendo fans? They like never act like nintendo is perfect, in fact they make them look like one hell of a bad guy most if not all the time?

But your some how telling me the Hardware is worth 90 bucks? When has a console ever been what it was really worth?

The Nintendo is Powerful for what it needs to be Powerful for, Not for what Is The current Standard, The console isn't perfect, it doesn't need to be, But saying its outright bad is kinda unnecessary, But it is your opinion. So if 2013 is to old, What would you have liked?

@thiz True, Buut, Others Think That the console Hasn't and that it is Better then the Last Gen Consoles, So idk if its really fact when it can be ether or, Because I think in this case, everyone has a Opinion on the Limitations of the switch, idk if this clears up anything, You have a good one.

@YusseiWarrior3000 I 100% agree with you on Apex and PVZ, those games look actually good on the switch.

@YusseiWarrior3000 All apex needed was Patches, But damn, Do I want to see The frostbite Engine used for other games, because it makes PVZ looks amazing on the switch.

Apex is one of the ugliest games on Switch, not sure what you're on. It also has one of the worst framerates. But maybe I'm biased because I play it on Switch as well as PC and the latter obviously dwarfs the handheld edition. Even just plain grass is missing on Switch.

In my opinion, the best looking games are easily the Crysis games. Original Crysis even has a form of ray tracing (SVOGI) and it is actually remastered compared to the version it's ported from (Crysis PS360). Part 2 and 3 are something else: even Crysis 3 is hugely upgraded compared to the original on PS360, with a much much better framerate, while this is a game that made PC's melt just four years before the Switch came out. It even touches 900p at times docked and actually runs 720p handheld. Far and wide the greatest achievement on the platform imo, Apex is obviously terrible in comparison and so are the super blurry Wolfenstein games.

Some others that max the platform while delivering some of its best visuals are Astral Chain, Witcher 3, Monster Hunter Rise, Dying Light and I gotta say I was very impressed with Hellblade, especially handheld. Luigi's Mansion 3 is gorgeous too, I don't think it belongs in this list as it probably doesn't tax the hardware too much, but it's one of those games that's among the most beautiful on the platform because of the art and design on their own.

Anyways, Switch is known for punching well above its weight and these titles were the most extreme examples of that. In fact, it is because of it being a handheld that I am still constantly getting that 'wow' moment more than on any other platform, when I see games like Crysis 3 running the way they do between my hand palms. So of course it's far from being a Series X but it's definitely not underpowered for a 2017 tablet and still acceptable today when devs truly put in the effort (and you can tolerate 30 fps). A hardware refresh in the coming years would be welcome though, it won't be too long before it can no longer run the most demanding titles without always being blurry, downgraded and unstable.
