I noticed cars flying/rolling behind you when you are at the start line! If you don't press A and wait for a camera facing the other cars they could be all over the place! When the race starts at the green light and you look back, cars fly back into place. I was happy at first with this patch but the lag introduced along with it is a let down.
Wow, they released a new patch (1.4.0) and the managed to make it even worse. Still very laggy and jerky animtation. Instead of fixing that they added new music and a bunch of horns you can choose from! Also they introduced adaptive AI. This is a new level of rubber-banding. If you stop driving the AI cars simply stop driving as well, it's hilarious! Sometimes they even drive in reverse because you're standing still. I kept it on my Switch hoping they would fix the lag that was introduced in patch 1.3.0, but I lost faith that Eden games will ever be fix it. If Gear Club 3 ever comes I will definitely not buy!
@JayJ The lag is the same or maybe a bit worse. The thing that got worse is the AI, according to me. They did also add an opportunity to add DLC, so I got some hope that maybe the will fix the performance and improve the AI. On Reddit more people are complaining about the lag and I sent an email to Eden games. Are you experiencing lag in 1.3.0?
@MadCow74 I always thought 1.3 was quite good, especially compared to what I have been hearing about the game. Sounds like I shouldn't update until they update it again.
This game has been on my watch list since release but I wasn't convinced at full price. Now that's it's heavily on sale it peaked my interest again. Any good for 24 euros? I can spare the money; just not really into buying games I won't play more than once.
@toiletduck I bought this from discount also a while ago, graphics are slightly better than before so little stuttering here and there and not so smooth racing as Gear Club Unlimited, but tilt controls are excellent. I recommend it if you have played through first game and while you are waiting for Grid.
@Quenaelin thanks. I decided to go for it and I've already had a lot of fun with it. I'm still in the low leagues though, haven't played too much. Graphics and gameplay don't bother me at all. My only disappointment so far, is the lack of CPU competitors in split screen. Would be much more fun to not only race each other but also some PC AI's.
I'm not anticipating Grid btw. I'm not really looking for a realistic sim. I justed wanted something to cure my NFS itch.
Just grabbed this on a sale for $10 after gold points. Not expecting much past Asphalt 9 level of racing, as I want something offline and without the constant micro transactions nagging. I think this should scratch the itch (especially for the price) since it also started life as a mobile racer.
I know there are better racers out there but this appears to be more arcade than sim which is what I prefer.
Well, after a week of play I would say it is serviceable. I am encouraged that it is at least still getting support (one add-on DLC with a second coming out in August). However the story mode seems very unbalanced at times with you struggling in races where you have 60+ PI over the CPU drivers but still can barely break into the top half. Not sure if that is due to my lack of skill or the CPU getting assistance from coding.
Overall, I am happy enough with the expense as I can pickup and play and feel like I am making progress.
