@javman05 : Just as I suspected. Perhaps such integration is more complicated than we may realise (or to be cynical, perhaps EA are just lazy). Considering the fact that the Switch version is getting a Champions Edition SKU this year indicates that the Switch version of 18 has been very successful (I don't think any other Nintendo version of FIFA in history has gotten a special/premium edition).
I just wish that we had the option for 6-8 player couch multiplayer. I can imagine it being just a bit chaotic, but there is really no technical reason why they couldn't pull it off.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
I have never used the companion apps, so I do not know what we may be missing out on (if anything), but wouldn't such an app be rendered redundant by the fact that the Switch is already portable? Am I missing something here?

Yeah I'd like that too, perhaps even in a special simplified arcade version. I remember Wii had a version like that; was pretty much fun.
@Silly_G you get free daily packs plus you can complete challenges and make transfers on the fly. Thought we were getting an almost like for like edition this year, seems like another limited edition again
Has anyone seen any more reviews/ gameplay announcements for the switch version. I really want this to be worth getting but I can't help feel the lack of info is because it's half the game of ps4 or xbox...
@Fowlersrs early impressions, I've just started FUT, there's definitely a lack of players on switch as there's not a huge amount of players for sale. It certainly looks better and plays better than last year's. Yes I picked up the championship edition.
How is the presentation? Much improved? They were making quite a big deal of the changes they’d made to make (for example) PL matches feel more like PL matches with the broadcast packages etc
Is video capture enabled? Can you post a couple of videos?
@Fowlersrs haven't seen survival mode I'm afraid. Had a quick go on a premiership campaign and presentation is excellent. Not sure what exclusive content there is for switch, haven't found any yet
I've played a little bit of it. So far so good. The visuals are improved, and there are some subtle new features (such as the ability to add player names for local multiplayer sessions which will save progress and other preferences). Video capture is also available straight off the bat (video capture was added to FIFA 18 in one of the most recent updates).
Gameplay has been tweaked, and I've hardly even played very much of 18. I have found passing to be a bit more difficult, but perhaps I was playing with a dud team (with poor formation).
Whether it is worth grabbing for those who already own 18 is quite subjective as that would depend on your mileage with these sorts of games. Nevertheless, it is a solid football experience and a more refined package when compared with its predecessor.
Of course, you should be able to find more thorough reviews elsewhere.
Im hearing murmurings that the new kick off modes are in the game, so survival mode is there BUT and this is a huge dissapointment.. you cant play these games modes online.. WHAT is the point, so dissapointed if thats the case, can anyone confirm?
It don’t bother me that much as I prefer playing on go, hopefully there some improvements but we all want frostbite running but switch needs lot more power
