Breath of the Wild for me. Magical game. Not had this feeling for a game since Ocarina. The 3D remake of OoT is my second favourite.

Majora's Mask for me, when it first came out I thouht meh looks really stupid and for kids, then 10 years later my cousin let me borrow it, and MY GOD! It is such a dark storyline, you turn dying/dead people in to masks to use their form, you have three days before the world is flattened by a grinning meteor.
Just love it all, even the really creepy statues when you use that Elegy of Emptiness, and the weird fan fiction that one song created.

Breath of the Wild, hands down.

Zelda and Sonic forever, just not in a shippy way.

I find it hard to pinpoint a favourite Zelda. Only ever played the 3D games.

Ocarina of Time
My first love. Probably my favourite. This game turned me into a Nintendo fan for life.

Majoras Mask
Creepy dark game. So much emotion in it. Really love it. Re-played it in November/December for first time in years on the 64 and loved it just as much! So much character.

The Wind Waker
Enjoyed it but something felt slightly off upon first playthrough when it was first released. Couldn’t put my finger on it. Re-played it a few years later and enjoyed again but prefer the 64 games. Haven’t played it in years. May have to bust it out again at one point.

Twilight Princess
Played on Wii, think would have preferred the GameCube version in retrospect. Enjoyable game again. Loved the dungeons but felt too much like a OoT clone (which I guess isn’t a bad thing) to imprint itself on me like OoT did. Only played through once.

Skyward Sword
Stopped playing halfway thru when I damaged my wrist and couldn’t Wii waggle for a while. Never got back into it. Been meaning to restart it for years and did so last week when the remaster came out. Playing the OG though and you know what? I’m loving it. Not caught up to where I was before 10 years ago but everything feels fresh so it’s all good.

Breath of the Wild
Got my Switch in October 2020 and this was the top game of my wish list. GF got it me for Xmas and I was mad pumped. Stopped playing halfway through as I just wasn’t enjoying it. Bizarre feeling for this game. Feel like I should love it but I really don’t. Maybe I’m going off Zelda? Cant be, as I played Majoras just before Xmas and Skyward Sword right now and loved them both. Maybe it’s the dungeons I miss? Maybe it’s the weapons durability annoying me. Just not for me this one.

After all that,

1: Ocarina of Time
2: Majora’s Mask
3: Twilight Princess
4: The Wind Waker
5: Skyward Sword (although could be higher at the end of this playthrough)
6: Breath of the Wild

1. Breath of the Wild
2. The Wind Waker
3. Majora's Mask
4. Ocarina of Time
5. A Link to the Past
6. Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
7. Link's Awakening
8. Skyward Sword
9. Twilight Princess
10. The Legend of Zelda

#5 - I started with A Link to the Past (borrowed it from a friend for my first Nintendo console, the SNES) and thought it was the best game ever made. I was hooked on Nintendo and Zelda ever since. The wait for Ocarina of Time was unbearable. But I picked up Link's Awakening (#7) for the Game Boy during the time, and I found it amazing.

#4 - Fortunately OoT was a masterpiece and the best 3D game up that point in 1998. Seeing it for the first time in motion stirred up so many emotions. In hindsight it's crazy that this ran on the N64.

#3 - Two years later Majora's Mask released and I could say so many things about it, but the 3-day-cycle is something that is so amazing and advanced that no one was able to copy or best this aspect of the game to this day, 21 years later. Endless respect for this game. Around that time I also beat Zelda 1 & 2, and even back then I thought Zelda II was ugly and unfair, still I completed it. Zelda 1 was great though (#10), I wish I could have played it when it was new.

#2 - The Wind Waker was Nintendo's Zelda hattrick. 3 of the greatest Zelda games in a row. It brought me back to gaming when I was getting tired of it. It was one of the very first openworld games and it's still the most beautiful Zelda game.

#1 - After that it took some time for me to love another Zelda. I loved Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (rank it #6) though. Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were disappointing compared to it. I thought Twilight Princess was too similar to Ocarina of Time (like some slightly worse reimagination, that's why it's only #9). And Skyward Sword, while not the best, makes it still to #8, due to picking some of the best things from Wii Sports Resort (swordsplay, bowling, flying) and putting it into an action-adventure. Breath of the Wild is my #1, because that's the Zelda game I spent most time with, granted it's the biggest and most epic one in the series that gave most bang for the buck. I don't know what to say what hasn't been said already. The game isn't flawless (the only nitpicks I have is that there's not enough inventory space to collect all the armor and that there are glitched chests you can never reach by normal play). However there's enough great stuff to cancel out these small issues.

Oh yeah, I really like Oracle of Ages and Seasons and The Minish Cap as well, and put them at #11, #12, and #13.

The only Zelda game I don't have / never completed is Triforce Heroes. Can we get a HD remaster?

@Bunkerneath I’m probably one of the only people to not love majora for being dark, but being bizarre. There’s just so many weird situations in the game mixed in with the sombre tone.

Link to the Past. Closest thing to a perfect game for me.

Skyward sword has been my favorite since I beat it the first time. Put me in the camp that loved breath of the wild and sunk hundreds of hours in to it and thought it was a great game but that it wasn’t very Zelda like.

As a Zelda game I rank skyward sword the best. This is mainly because the top three tiers in my rankings are dungeons, boss fights, and combat. I feel skyward sword is the top of the franchise in these categories. The linear railroad type narrative is not a negative to me in anyway as I feel that’s how every Zelda basically is, even the original nes title had numbered levels for dungeons and required items from earlier one to beat later ones on some instances. Only botw is more open, but not a Zelda quality in my view. I also feel skyward sword has the best story and charming characters with development. This is the most human likeable person Zelda has ever been and you care about her in this game. Groose is great too. Fi can be a little talky in the original but I enjoyed her. Oh and it has the best music with the orchestra and ballad of the goddess theme. The combat system may be disliked as gimmicky by some but it is the deepest system and every enemy is a puzzle with timing involved that can be defeated in several ways. The dungeons are top tier in the series in my book and having the line blurred where your solving puzzles just to get to them is supremely enjoyable and engaging compared to sailing or ridding epona thrrough a field, the overworld is much more dense with content in this game.

I probably would put skyward sword in the bottom of my ranking, seeing as it was so slow and boring that I couldn’t even bring myself to beat the first dungeon.

Wrong thread. This is favorite Zelda game thread.

@blaisedinsd There’s no “least favorite Zelda game” thread, and this is on topic. Please let the mods do their job, and don’t minimod.

For me, nothing beats Ocarina. I love the old-school 2D entries, but dang... every area and event of Ocarina is just a stone-cold classic. There are a few games in the history of the hobby that just stood head-and-shoulders above other contemporary offerings, and Ocarina was was one of those. There's just nothing in that game to get mad about for most people... maybe getting hit by spiders while climbing lol

on topic? You just didn’t like someone saying they love skyward sword so in this thread you are the first person to say someone’s opinion is less valid because it’s contrary to your opinion. Everyone else is saying their favorite Zelda except you oh negative one.

If you want a least favorite Zelda thread make one. That’s not against the rules is it?

@blaisedinsd I didn’t say I disliked skyward sword because you liked it. Your assuming I did, with no other proof than me posting it after you posted your paragraph praising it. Yes, your post did remind me of skyward sword, but I didn’t post my thing to discredit your post at all. I didn’t even so much as tag you in the post.

Let's calm down.

I suppose it's ok to mention which ones you like the least, as long as it stays on-topic, and isn't being used as a way to bring down someone else's opinion.

Bloop.

If you don't like skyward sword that's fine but if anyone honestly thinks it's the worst you either haven't played alot of the games or you need your head examined. Phantom hourglass might rank worst for me though i still don't hate it. Skyward sword is pretty high in the ranking as far as i'm concerned. The music and story are the biggest reasons.

@Zeldafan79 PH is also my least favorite. It was fun the first 2 times in the temple of the ocean king.

That temple is the biggest drag in the game. I hate time limits.
