Didn't we have a thread like this not too long ago? Either way, botw, ALBW, LA, and OoT I just love them too much to have one claim the top spot. Played them all countless times. That's not to discredit the rest. They're all good, even Zelda II. I just like some more than others 😊

No, that was completely different. That was about what makes a good Zelda game, this is about which games are the best.

My favorites are a bit unusual: I like the two NES zeldas and the two Oracle games. I prefer my games to be more challenging.

I REALLY wanna say Link to the Past, and it's a close second, but I gotta go with Ocarina. I've played and replayed and found everything in that game so many times it's not even funny. Just a masterpiece and possibly the greatest single-player game of all time.

Age of calamity! I love the little robot guy, I named him cutie. DO NOT TELL ME ANY SPOILERS or else there will be no need to play it anymore.

I Can't just choose one. Each game has it's moments. I will always remember how awesome OOT was the first time i played it but i feel later games did 3D zelda better. I really loved Twilight princess! Midna wasn't as annoying as Navi or Fi and the look of the game was very cool! I'm still in love with skyward sword and replaying it now is only making be love it more!

I'd also like to give honorable mention to spirit tracks though i do wish it hadn't been held back by forced touch controls. I enjoyed the train theme. My father was an engineer on the railroad so trains Have Always sorta intrigued me. I'm such a fan of the series i really like them all.

I'm a traditionalist, never been a fan of 3D Zelda games.

Alot of 3D Games didn't transfer well from 2D but zelda is quite an exception. They nailed it with OOT! You're only missing out by sticking with 2D. Plus lately they kinda haven't done any 2D at least as far as brand new games go. Link between worlds was the last and even it is almost a remake. I'd sure welcome a new 2D zelda though!

@Zeldafan79 Tri Force Heroes was the last brand new 2D entry for Zelda, although I did it find it so horrible it should be thrown out of the timeline!

Speaking of 2D Zelda, Cadence of Hyrule was awesome in a low key way and the only thing that holds it back is that it’s a spin off otherwise it would make it into my top 5 Zeldas.

@jump I refuse to accept Triforce heroes as canon or as a 2D Zelda.

Truthfully though, it’s been too long since the last brand new 2D Zelda, and I really hope they make a new one soon.

I'd consider Links crossbow training canon before triforce heroes. That's the one zelda game i have never played nor do i intend to. Right along with metroid federation force.

Cadence of hyrule was such a great time. I wouldn't mind more small projects like that from nintendo or a small studio. I ended up plaything thru it 4 or 5 times it was so much fun.

@Zeldafan79 The main reason I never bought triforce heroes was because how the online was set up, and how I didn’t have any friends to play it with.

I'd file Triforce Heroes along with Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures. They're all still a part of the Zelda canon, just without much in the way of a story or at their best as single player experiences.

Get enough like minded players together though and they're all potentially a lot of fun.

Same for me. At my age it would be difficult to find friends who would want to play a zelda game with me and i don't have kids either. I'm just not into multiplayer unless it's racing or fighting games.

@VoidofLight @Zeldafan79 If only there was a place on the internet where similar minded people who are into both Nintendo and Zelda could talk to each and arrange to play multiplayer games together. They could call it NintendoLiving or something like that. ;p

@jump I meant when it first came out, before I found this site. Now, I don’t really have any particular interest in getting the game, since it came out years ago.

Ocarina of Time blew my mind, when I first played it on my N64. Back in its time the game felt huge, open and full of wonders. OoT remained my favorite Zelda game up until I played Breath of the Wild. BotW gave me the same vibes OoT gave me back when I was a child. And I'm so grateful that I could get this experience again as an adult.

So for me it's:
1. Breath of the Wild
2. Ocarina of Time

Yeah good luck finding four random people willing to play triforce heroes. Especially now let alone then.
Besides I'm not into setting up online play dates with strangers. It's just me and my single player games. I tried the online gaming thing a couple times but i didn't care for it without really knowing the people.

@Zeldafan79 I would say it's your loss but it's Tri Force Heroes so you're probably better off anyway.

Not sure if it's recency bias, but I've not long ago finished Breath of the Wild, and I'll be very surprised if I play another game as good as it from here on in.

Can't believe it took me this long to invest in it and finish it after getting it at launch. I got barely any time to myself due to work when it released, so I'd play it in spurts, stop for a while, pick it up again but totally lose track.

One of the best gaming decisions I've ever made was to come back and start over with a clean slate at the start of June to play it consistently and properly.
