@Zeldafan79 Never played Phantom Hourglass. Spirit Tracks isn’t my favorite, but I got pretty far into it. Never played the oracle games, minish cap, the original 2, and I don’t count the online games, since I don’t have friends to play them and they’re not like traditional Zeldas.
Out of the ones I’ve played, which were A Link Between Worlds, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, Link’s Awakening, A Link to the Past, Spirit Tracks, Ocarina of Time, BotW, and Majora’s mask, I can safely say that Skyward Sword is pretty much my least favorite, aside from the lore that it introduced.

@Zeldafan79 honestly though, if not for that hundred parts in the temple, I would've loved it. I loved the puzzles and the way they used touch controls. That's why I really enjoyed ST, it wasn't so frustratingly repetitive like PH was.
I love Phantom Hourglass. It’s such a cozy little game.
Spirit Tracks mostly disappointed me as a sequel to it, except from Zelda’s character arc and personality. It just felt kinda restrictive in comparison.
As for my all time top favorite Zelda game… That’d be hard to define… Sometimes it’s this, other times it’s that.
I was never super into 2D LOZ and didn’t love the series until OOT, which was my favorite Zelda until BOTW came along and swept me off my feet. I played it for a year straight and still keep the ole WiiU hooked up just to mess around in ruined Hyrule once in a while. I actually found an unbeaten shrine a few weeks ago while playing with my daughter. I also really enjoy WW and SS, but I’m out completely on MM.
ALttP is probably my most replayed Zelda game, followed by or tied with Links Awakening (original). They are just fun to play and my favourite 2D ones.
3D.....OoT ranks up there, but really BotW really got the series back to it's true roots of the first game. A giant world you're dropped in to explore. Sure, I would've loved some real dungeons (any order ones, not linear) and it does lack a few things, but the getting back to just exploring without endless tips, strictly linear paths, and awful gimmicks really won me over.
As a side note, I have a real soft spot for Zelda II and it ranks as one of my favourites. It's really a good game and would only need a few tweaks and a better translation to make it more accessible to more people.
All the ones that needed a remake have been remade now except zelda 2. Hint hint Nintendo! Show some love for the series black sheep. Even though it seems mostly hated and since that style never returned i assume Nintendo knows it Isn't popular and fears a remake Wouldn't sell. I say do it anyway. Zelda 2 needs a second chance.

If they remade the oracle games like they did Link's awakening I'd welcome that! Minish cap seems fine the way it is unless they wanted to do like a reimagined 3D version.

@Zeldafan79 It’d be interesting if they remade the minish cap in the toon style of triforce heroes or spirit tracks though. A more cleaned up version of that style.

@Shadowthrone
That's a good point. Technically speaking if we look at the first game, the "roots" of Zelda are being dropped into an open world and tackling themed dungeons and using key items.
BotW was fun, but it dropped the ball on the dungeons for sure and also mostly dropped the ball on the key items. I'd love to see key items return for puzzle solving, and I'm sure the combat uses would also be baked in. Everyone mentions the hookshot, but I'd also love to see stuff like the hammer, the magic cape, the mole mitts, and even the pegasus boots (those could be SUPER fun in BotW2).
@rallydefault Key items wouldn’t work in an open world game. It’d hinder people’s ability to go anywhere at any time. BotW technically had key items in the form of runes, but you got them all at the start so that you can do anything in any order, and explore the world without hindrances. People who want the hookshot back clearly haven’t taken note that the dev team considered it, but then dropped the idea since it would make climbing too easy.
Dungeons, however, I can agree on. They really need to do more themed dungeons with unique bosses honestly.

I won't even try to address your near-constant use of blanket statements, but I'm fairly sure that the talented dev team at work on BotW2 could find some way to incorporate the hookshot and some other key items while retaining the integrity of the open world.
As a rule, people tend to not think things are possible until they happen.

That's a blanket statement. You are stating that all people who want the hookshot haven't taken note of the dev team's comments.
The Beetle would be a better fit than the hookshot, if only for exploring a shrine/dungeon. Hopefully it comes back in some form, especially with their promotion of Skyward Sword.
