Topic: Enter The Gungeon

Anyone else pick up this game in the sale and find it far more difficult than you expected?
I’m getting destroyed by the floor 4 bosses. Especially the wall boss, can’t seem to find a strategy that doesn’t just involve having loads of spare blanks by chance.
The game is also number 1 in the eshop charts for some reason which is pretty good going for a game from 2016.

@Aven if Gorgun is still giving you trouble, I recommend standing to either side of her. Roll through her two uzi bursts or her medusa wave, walk through the gaps in her screaming bullet attack, and just keep shooting. I actually find her the easiest floor 2 boss.
If you hit the Ammoconda, Doorboss or Cannonbalrog, just hope you have some good guns and use your blanks when you have to.

This is one disgusting game. At least, in portable mode.
Man, I've tried, but I can't get past chapter 3. It's probably easier on a bigger screen and especially when aiming with a mouse. But like this, it's not working for me...

It looks easy to dodge but actually not slipping off the tiny sticks on the joycons is the difficult part. This is not a game you want to play on-the-go. You need to prepare well, get a good rest, drink some caffeine, turn off the phone, make sure nobody will knock on the door and then gun down those bullets.

@Switchcraft I have little grippies on my joycon joysticks that came with the LoZ Breath of the Wild collector set. My thumbs don't slide off in portable mode.
I also recommend a darker room for Gungeon, but the first time I beat it was in a well lit office so, all hail RNG. 😆

I don't have joystick grips but I don't have any problems with my fingers slipping off. I still haven't got past chamber 3 either though...

Has anyone else been having issues since the update? Has crashed a few times and failed to load a couple. Also getting slowdown and longer load times between rooms that wasn't there before.

Didn't think it was worth bumping this thread for that, but....yeah. I got this game since it was 50% off, it only crashed on me once. I haven't played too much of it yet...hopefully they'll fix it, crashes are annoying.

The final update looks great, but I haven’t noticed anything different in the game. Where are the new characters? My Switch auto updated to the final version, but everything pretty much looks the same.

1. New npc in the gungeon that once freed from his cell unlocks rainbow runs in the main area
2. Playable character Paradox can be unlocked by clicking on a mirror universe patch in thr gungeon and be all seethrough until killing your character's past or the lich with the effect active.
3. Playable character Gunslinger can be unlocked by beating the lich with the character Paradox, then playing through the gunslinger and defeating a double lich.

@Snatcher<33 Dogorilla meant, stick with this thread A general thread for a game can be revived. Duplicate threads are what the community rules try to eliminate. I would delete the new one you made to clean things up.

edit: oops! So, how far have you gotten in Enter the Gungeon? I dont' think I've ever beat two bosses, or it's rare that I have. I have used the fireplace to jump to the next floor though. And then I die there

@Snatcher When you play the game, the levels are procedurally generated. There is always one room with a big fireplace on the first level, and also one water barrel (water barrel is not always in the fireplace room). Push/roll the water barrel into the fireplace to put out fire, go into fireplace and trip the switch(you can't see inside the fireplace, just hit the action button, you'll hear a tone, and that will reveal a new room somewhere, with a trap door to warp to next level. If I remember right, if you're too rough with the water barrel it can break. If the barrel gets stuck against a wall, you can gently bounce it off the wall.

Normally people just play the first level, and beat the boss to move on to the next level. (someone here may know this stuff better than me, and add info)

Hey you guys Its my 2 day and I got to the final floor..and lost but after that I wanted to get the robot As to how many times it took to get it 3 yep on my 3 try I did it I'm really proud of myself as I'm told it could be hard now i'm going to get the gun that can kill the past later.

I've still never really gotten past level 2. Maybe I've gotten to level 3 via the fireplace secret door switch. I love the game play, but disappointed that it's too hard for me to get too far into the game. It's so hard to get far, I can't get enough practice to get better at the harder levels & bosses.

I'm also feeling the challenge from this game, I like it a lot... although I'm not really the best with shmup games and bullet hell. 😅
