@GrailUK Personally I'm good with the gamepass and mini fridge stuff (especially since Rare seems to need more time on everwild). Unless they wanna make Todd Howard spill the beans on TES VI. After running the numbers for my switch preorders for the year and my Play asia and BF list...yeah I'm going to sit out buying new games on any other system for at least next year. My low bar goal is to get into the the P5/Series X race in 2023...but that is slipping to 2024...especially if bayonetta 3 and botw2 actually drop in 2022. It would be a waste of money to buy a new system the following year. With Gamepass and the fact that most of the new games are gen straddling (especially ps4 games) I can coast for a good long while.

Look can we just agree that @Slowdive was the VIP for this thread, I mean come on, they were giving us stuff to talk about all the way up to E3 and hopefully many more.

@Slowdive Ohh, that would be ace to come back. I will see your Starfy and raise you a KuruKuruKururin.

Okay, as I've calmed and thought over it, I realize this year's release schedule is missing a few notable points.

1. No Kirby - I assume we'll get a vanpool spinoff again in the September direct or something? Or its going to be shadow dropped like Fighters 2.
2. No Earthbound - There's been hints we'll get Mother SOMETHING this year from Itoi. A remake of some sort could easily be in the September direct and release Nov/Dec still.
3. No Bayonetta - We only got hints it was being revealed this year, so no surprise, but still worth mentioning as a possible addition.
4. No Fire Emblem - With WayForward being the developer on Advanced Wars instead of IS, Intelligent Systems still is in the running to show something this year. Given how packed this year is it's a low chance, but not too out there if it's a remake. Perhaps a Feb/Apr release next year though seems far more likely.
5. No MonolithSoft - With all the teams they have right now, it's a huge surprise that we haven't seen an announcement still. I know they're helping on BotW2, but they now have 2 dedicated offices for that. Perhaps we'll see them soon still?

Aaanyways, where things stand I feel like these are the things to keep an eye out for.

@Slowdive yeah Densetsu no Starfy would be great to see (actually he would make a good Smash pick) come back. But I don't think the sales match up to warrant the ROI. And the platforming genre is kinda saturated.

@link3710 More or less agree but Bayonetta 3's all but a write off at this point. Kamiya even said to forget the game!

@Slowdive As someone who's played the only US released Starfy from beginning to end, I have to ask. Why bring back Starfy? Were his other titles better? Cause the DS one was... Kinda meh. Especially compared to the rest of Nintendo's platformers. Unlike Wario Land, I don't see what Starfy did as a unique niche well enough to bring it back.

I would be curious to see them do a remake collection of the ones we never got though... I'd probably be curious enough to play it still.

@TheJGG He said "rest and forget so that any new announcements will come as a wonderful surprise." That doesn't mean to not expect announcements, it means he's sick of being asked about it lol.

@link3710 True, that's likely what he was getting at... I'm usually patient with these kinds of things (the first thing I said when seeing the new Breath of the Wild Sequel trailer was something like "TAKE YOUR **** TIME NINTENDO! I don't care how long I wait as long as it's good!") but there's clearly something... interesting going on. Granted Platinum may be stretched apart with various projects but a) they're a perfectly competent well staffed studio, and b) they have two offices.

Idk why people don't want to see a tekken fighter, The only way I can see you really getting upset is if the next character was from MC. Oh what have I done!

Also, I'm a little surprised that you don't like BOTW, since it's not a violent game. It's not Petz, but maybe try the first one before you make a final decision.

Pretty sure he said that he gave up on it after a few hours.

Totally agree with you on the Nintendo Direct, by the way. There were quite a few announcements that really made my day. Good time to be a Nintendo fan

@TheJGG Bayonetta 3 isn't a write off. Nintendo would have told us (they happen to be very transparent regardless of fans thinking they aren't because of game announcements lol!)

@Grumblevolcano Dang, I knew I was thinking it was weird they were putting out two games during the direct but I couldn't remember why lol.
@Slowdive Yeah, it occurred to me after the post that they may have seen the release schedule this year and decided to hold back any completed projects for the anniversary. Just because they always have a game every year doesn't mean it makes sense this year after all.

I remember it actually being a very fun little game that was very obviously different from Nintendo platformers. Because it was a swimming based game, and the swimming actually felt good to control.

@skywake To be exact sales AND marketing, and in the IT and telecom sector as well. And I've not just been "trying to spin the work of others", I've worked for Compaq, HP, Microsoft partners and Google partners, and I've marketed and sold all their products, hardware and services, and even sold and filled numerous seminars and events, so often times first hand for the party that I was employed for, not for products of others.

No offense taken, though. I know that in the real world, opinions will differ and we don't all have to see eye to eye all the time, much less put much stock in second-hand information.

So, having said all that, I actually kind of AM the guy, or rather: me and my sales team are the people to tell you whether or not something will sell, if something is worth its salt and whether or not predictions can be made correctly based upon sales projections and financial reports, which is basically also what Bloomberg does, so no offense, and obviously I'm not all-knowing, but I think I can at least in part trust in my own experience in this field, and for all the time that the rumors have been going on, there has been nothing that has come even close to pointing at any of it being true.

Another thing I'm having some issues with, is the moving of goal posts by these rumor mongers: first it was going to be revealed months before E3, then in the month leading up to E3, then during E3 and now shortly after E3, so I'm hoping that in that regard, you can at least understand to some extent where I'm coming from. I'm just connecting dots and using deductive reasoning, as I always do, and then the outcome is actually quite often just what I expected it to be. Maybe not 9 out of 10 times, but not too far off from 8 out of 10...

But all in all, no one has to agree with anyone, and everyone is free to have his or her opinion, whether it's based upon actual facts or not. Unnamed developers stating it's coming does not count as fact, Bloomberg projecting it coming also still does not count as fact. Not pointing at you, but it's sad to see that apparently, that doesn't sit well with certain people, if I don't agree simply because I have my own views or perspective on things, which comes from a place of only trusting tangible evidence and believing things when I see them. As we say in our business: "trust is good, control is better".

And again, none of that means that it can't or won't happen, I'm just saying that it definitely isn't happening now, and there sure as heck isn't going to be any rushed post-E3 reveal to show new hardware because third party developers "need" it for their newer titles.

As @Henmii also very correctly stated, it isn't proven until Nintendo makes the official statement.

On a side note: and in case I actually AM proven wrong before long, then I'll have no problems with being big enough to own up to that, so you can remind me of that whenever that happens. Does have to be soon, though. I'd say before October, otherwise, my point is already proven...

Nintendo is going to win this.

@Snatcher They already did.

Well, obviously, a lot of us have a thing for Nintendo, but objectively, it was most certainly Microsoft that won this year's edition, what with them officially getting awards for 'Best Presentation', and Forza Horizon 5 Winning 'Most Anticipated Game', so there's that.

Personally, I liked both presentations equally, they both had some interesting stuff to show, even though in general, this entire E3 was possibly not as good as it good have been, but eh, what can you do, when there's a pandemic going on, right?
