Drackmage

The demo was the first minecraft-style game I have ever played and I enjoyed it very much. I have about 2 hours of playtime in the demo and have now pre-ordered the physical version.

I downloaded the demo last night and spent a couple of hours goofing around. Daughter #2 has now been playing it gor the last three hours. Definitely going to buy this. It's so freaking charming, but not TOO charming, if you know what I mean.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

It gets better after the demo, which is just the first couple of hours

This game is not for me. Not s fan of dragon quest and have never ‘got’ minecraft. Downloaded the demo to combat this ridiculous game draught (sarcasm) and then deleted it two hours later. Reason? Liked it so much I preordered it off amazon and didn’t want to ruin the experience by over playing it.

The very fact it denies me the hammer is a travesty. I want that hammer NOW

Never completed the game on PS4, sold my copy and pre ordered the Switch version on Amazon. Just got to find the time that this kind of game demands.

I’m wondering, aren’t there trivial solutions to keeping the monsters out of your town? The AI seems poorly developed. I think digging a moat around the town would totally throw them off. And can’t you just build your town sky high with only a single narrow staircase?

I think there are some easy ways to cheat your way around. Right now, aesthetics are my priority, but I think I’m making things harder than they have to be.

Also, does anybody know if the double room glitch is still intact? You build a room that’s 4 blocks high and put doors over each other. You will be rewarded with double XP.

Why is this thread so quiet? Nobody likes Dragon Quest Builders?

My copy just arrived in the mail yesterday. It's fantastic, of course. Also grabbed it digitally cause, it's a top tier game imo and one I always want on the system.

Anyone else get Dragon Quest Builders?

@Equinox
If ever there was a perfect game to transition from Minecraft to Pokemon, it's this.

Half Minecraft half RPG. Then from here you go to Dragon Quest Monsters, which is a Pokemon styled catch em all RPG. And from there right into Pokemon.

That's such a perfect transition it's like it was created by science or something.

I've got it. Spent most of yesterday playing it and completed the first chapter. Great game all-round, and a few adult jokes hidden in plain sight as well.

I've just got Portal Knights in the mail and when I'm finished with that I pick up DQ Builder.

Exactly.

I’m still in Chapter 1, but the perfectionist in me is tearing up. Can’t get the town to look the way I like. I’m level 5 but I completely wiped up everything twice already. I’m still figuring out my signature architecture style...

I noticed that you don’t get blueprints for every room. Actually, you have to figure out most of them yourself. I just stumbled about this site that lists some(?) of the possible rooms you can create: http://www.gamersheroes.com/game-guides/dragon-quest-builders...

In chapter 1 there is a pond near the town. It is on a far lower level, though. I dug a moat nonetheless and linked it. Looks pretty cool! Monsters can’t reach my town either. (They start attacking either at lvl 5 or when you receive your second teleporter.)

I have a Question. I am in chapter 1, and can I take my time with the building and doing quests? Not that I take all my time building and suddenly after sleeping 30 nights a huge monster comes, and I'm not prepared for that. Is everything in a chapter activated after doing specific quests or after sleeping a number of nights? I hope I am clear enough

I'm already loving this game so much.

I played through the Demo and really liked it but I have a hard time paying $80 for it (through e-store or ebgames) when I can pick up the same game for my PS4 for $25. Had they released this game for $30 - $40 I think they would have sold way more copies. The price is simply too high for me.

I was hesitant to get this game because I'm not interested in Minecraft -I don't like the absolute freedom without a goal that it seems to offer-, but then I learned that DQ Builders came with a story and tried the demo and... hell, it's a Dragon Quest, an IP that I love. Got it for 33 € thanks to a discount I had and really hope to have time to play it tomorrow. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Currently partway through chapter 3. Building the colossal coffer definitely makes things so much simpler. Until you can build it, the start of each chapter can be annoying as your bag fills up so quickly.
@Torpian
That's what nearly kept me from getting it. I'm glad I did get it though and much prefer having it on the Switch. Was stuck in a waiting room for an hour today so having Builders there was great.

@PLATINUM7 How much time did you spend to get to Chapter 3? I wouldn't like it to be a short campaign game

By the way, where are you and @Torpian from? 80 dollars is really expensive, nowhere in Europe costs that much.

Australia.

Not sure how long it's taken me in total to get to chapter 3 but it took the good part of a day to play through all of chapter 2.

@AkinaNL You can take your time. There is a trophy on PlayStation if you beat every chapter in a given number of days, but I am not sure if there is any benefit in doing so on Switch.
You have plenty of time to prepare for the boss battle and tou can trigger it once you feel fit.

@Torpian You can change your location in your Nintendo account and thus save a lot of money if you access a different eShop store. South Africa has the lowest price for DQB right now. I paid 40€.
