@NEStalgia I choose to buy unlimited bandwidth therefore everyone in the world should adopt broken products that you remedy yourself because for me it's not an issue" is the kind of thinking that got Mattrick fired
Hold up. How the hell did you derive that as my thinking? I didn't say anyone in the world should do anything. I don't care what you do or what your neighbor does or what anyone here does. I'm not telling everyone in the world they need to adopt broken products. I'm saying I don't care if I have to make a download. ME. Not you. Not him. ME.
And it's not a broken product. That's called spin. Product works absolutely fine. It may not be in the media format you prefer but the product itself is fine. It's all digital data stored somewhere. Be it on a cartridge or on your system or on an SD card or on a disc or wherever, they are selling you access to the digital data and nothing more. How it's stored is a matter of preference and has absolutely nothing to do with being "broken". You may not like it, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean it's broken.
You are free to do whatever you want, but you are going to severely limit yourself with the games you play and the experiences you enjoy if you can't get past this like I have. I am the biggest physical gamer in the world, but the way I see it is a lot of games release digital only nowadays- and I have never once refused to buy a game for being digital only... and this is still far better than digital only. It may not be ideal and I concede that it's not, but at the end of the day we're here to play video games. Who gives a crap if half the game is on the cartridge and half the game is somewhere else... as long as the game plays, who cares. At least we still get a retail box and a retail cartridge, which is more than can be said for digital only games. I am a big collector but more than that, I am a gamer. And I just want to play good games man. Yes I have my preferences for how my games are sold to me, and certainly it doesn't mean I like it, but at the end of the day I just want to play good video games and I think if I have gotten so bad that I deprive myself of a great video game simply because of how or where the digital media is stored... I've lost sight of what being a gamer is all about.

This game is insane. My only experience with it before this is on the Xbox One demo. I'm impressed with it on here by far. Hows the multiplayer going for everyone?
I know a lot of complaints are being aired about the game not being entirely on the cartridge but let’s get some perspective. This is Doom... on the Switch... and it looks fantastic. Those of us that lived through the Wii U era can’t have seen this coming. Buy an SD card and enjoy it.
Has anyone tried the team deathmatch? I'm not really one for playing online shooters but I will play the heck out of the practice mode with bots. It's insanely fun, to the point I almost couldn't muster the will to put it down this morning to go to work.

Don't waste your breath mate, just carry on enjoying Doom with all the rest of us who have and will purchase it
Logic and sense can't reach the salty minority on here, who are missing out on this cracking game:
@Hyrule you're missing that i bought Doom. I said Bethesda is doing it right with Doom. 2k on the other hand is not. Doom=done Right with fair compromise. 2ks games are abusive.
@jaxonh I'll reply more later to your longer posts!
Everyone praises the Solo Mode, and yeah it's the perfect mix of original DOOM and Metroid Prime, but the online multiplayer is totally underrated. I bought this game for the solo campaign but lately every time I start it up I need to go online.
As for the graphics, when you come from 70 hours of 1080p 60fps Super Mario Odyssey and then go into 720p 30fps DOOM you obviously can notice a difference in picture quality. With heavily spoiled eyes it takes a bit to get used to, but it doesn't change the fact that the environments and designs still look great, and that it's still very fast and fluid. I recommend putting the 'blur effect' down to 0%.
As for controls, well, for twin-stick controls and analog aiming they're good. Fortunately there's all the important customization options.
But I know of about 4 control methods that are better. Gyro, pointer, mouse, and even Metroid Prime Hunters' touchscreen/button mix. Control-wise I feel like I've been warped back into 2005, Gamecube, Timesplitters 2, Geist, Metroid Prime 1&2. As bad as the omission of gyro-enhanced aiming seems to be, the Gamecube-like twinstick-only controls bring back a nostalgic scent that I can accept for DOOM to embrace.
Anyway, back to the online mode. It has so many fun modes, and so many maps, and weapons, and depth. In fact the online multiplayer has tons of similarities to Splatoon 1&2. Don't listen to the haters or the negativity. The online multiplayer is the meat of the game!
As for issues, yeah I found 3:
1. On one match, the map freaked out a bit, with random polygon triangles obscuring one area of the map. I hoped the other online players experienced the same bug. It definately handicapped my sight. But it fixed itself and didn't carry over to the next matches.
2. Minor detail thing in the title screen. Why has the Campaign mode the same arcade banner as the Arcade mode? It should have its own campaign banner.
3. The map is slow and sluggish to control.
Oh and I have a noob question that might bring me back to the solo campaign:
Can I replay stages in the arcade mode for missed %collectibles?
Or is there another way to select/replay earlier stages (without starting the campaign from scratch)?
@SKTTR click on campaign as you normally would and in the list of options is mission select, use this for missed collectables and challenges, also the classic levels you find are also on this list.

I'll still say the single player is why I bought this game. I was one of those that said I didn't need to dl the multiplayer but after watching some YouTube last night I thought those that said it wasn't that good were crazy. From what I saw it looked like perfect dark all over again but with demons. While I don't have the time to try it this week I'm definitely giving it a try next week when I can.

How active is the multiplayer? I get the feeling DOOM's MP will get a second wind on the Switch, thanks primarily to the fact that it's not drowning in shooters like the PS4 and Xbone.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
So after all the conflicting info, I decided to find out myself and you can download the DOOM update onto your internal memory. No need for a microSD card to play DOOM which makes me much less annoyed that the multiplayer update is a forced download.
@Ralizah I played early this morning and got matches pretty easily so I'd say it's a promising start. Also I agree with others on here that the multiplayer is great fun and I've never been a fan of this type of thing

So, bought Doom last night. Asked Gamestop dude if I had to have a microSD card. He said he didn't know. So I bought the game only, popped it in, and I can play Arcade mode & start a campaign. I know I'm missing the online multi-player download, but I don't have Internet access at home so I don't think that's too big of a deal for me. My question: Is there anything else I'm missing by not doing a download?
Saw an ad online saying Amazon is selling 128G cards for $29.99 free shipping with Prime. Too inexpensive to pass up so I bought a card anyway for future games. So turns out I can do a download if I wanted. I use the WiFi at my local library.
As long as it sells enough, the online multiplayer mode should have a long life on Switch. You could find a match on Goldeneye Wii right up until the Wii's online was switched off, I remember reading it was the same for one of the Call of Duty games.
I'll be getting the game on Monday, can't wait to play it. Maybe we can arrange some multiplayer matches with each other if that's possible. Are friend matches an option?
@BradC40 you're just missing the multiplayer as far as I know so of you don't have the internet anyway you're not missing anything. As a point of reference I have the whole game on my Switch without an SD card so you should have enough space for the update unless you have a lot of games
