I'm really happy to have Tropical Freeze on Switch. I prefer Country Returns but Tropical Freeze is very good anyway!

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

This is one of my favorite games of all time, and for sure my favorite 2D platformer of all time. There were two games left that I have been dying to see come to Switch- Xenoblade X and DKC Tropical Freeze. I am so happy this game is coming, I can't even express my joy in mere words.

I just want to scream AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Yes!

Never wanted this overrated rehash before, adding in a glorified easy mode doesn't make me want it any more. Wake me up when DK gets the BotW/Odyssey treatment, it seems like DK's been doing mainly the same thing for 20 years.

I've really got into the DK games but I usually give them a shot. I did forget to pick this up on Wii U though.

Debating whether I should save my money and buy the Wii U Selects version or the Switch Port. I find more time to play the Switch so I'll probably go for that. If the Switch wasn't a portable they wouldn't get away with all of these ports, but they do have a good selection to choose from. Besides it gives me time to buy and catch up on FE Warriors and XC2 while everyone's busy enjoying Bayonetta 1/2 and Hyrule Warriors.

It's a great game - I really enjoyed it on the Wii U. If you never owned it and like platformers at all, it's a must-have. Personally, I'm not going to repurchase.

Really wished DKC Returns was bundled with this game. Would'ave justified the 60 dollar price tag.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

I'm currently playing Resident Evil 4 Remake & Manhunt

@Kimyonaakuma I'd recommend picking up the Switch version as it likely fixes the few problems with the Wii U version (e.g. very long load times).

Yep long load times and a strangely laggy loading animation. It never received a single update either,it remained on version 1.0. Other than those very minor issues though it was pretty close to perfect. Superb platformer.

There’s a few Wii U games that I held off on for just such an occasion, this being one. Captain Toad is another. I’ll be getting it.

Another game that released after I had sold the Wii U, so this is a definite purchase from me. DKC Returns on Wii and 3DS is one of my favorite modern platformers.

@OorWullie
This game did receive an update. Can't remember what it fixed, think it was a progression issue in level 3-4.

version 1.1.0

You're in for a treat. This is my fave 2D platformer if all time. It's also got a soundtrack every bit as good as DKC2. I used to listen to the David Wise tracks on my phone.

It's difficult, and some people lose patience with difficult games but, it's nothing like Super Meat Boy or The End Is Nigh. It's not evil, just provides a good challenge. I set multiple top 50 time trial runs globally, and even had the 2nd fastest time in the world without taking damage for the special level in the final world, which was one of the toughest levels in the game.

I really do love the time trials though. Check this out. They deleted my runs uploaded to YT but this was basically identical to one of my own

@MsJubilee Did they announce the price for the game yet?

@DTMOF84 No not yet, but I'm expecting it to cost as much as Bayonetta 2 due to it also being a port with no significant additions.

Captain Toad is very unlikely, as rated by Kotaku: https://kotaku.com/wii-u-games-ranked-by-probability-of-switc...

Otherwise that’s a game I would also love to see ported. The style reminds me of Super Mario RPG. That would be the best remake ever if it used the same engine and graphic design.

I could see Captain Toad happening, either a sequel in the world of Odyssey or a port as part of a double pack with 3D World.

I could see it happening as an eShop only port. I hope it happens.

These are just my thoughts so they could be completely wrong, but have any of the Wii U ports been games that have ever used the Gamepad in any meaningful way?

MK8 - Err...a car horn? So no

Bayonetta 1/2 - Touch controls (optional)

DK Tropical Freeze - None that I know of...

Hyrule Warriors - Quick access to menus

Anyway what I'm trying to say is that none of the ports so far have needed gameplay tweaks. Captain Toad and SM3D World will need some work for a port. Pikmin 3 had features that could be moved to the TV easily, they were only menus. I expect a port of that before 4 releases. As for Smash it should be simple but I don't really care about it, so I've not given much thought I wasn't sure if they would include all of that DLC in a £50 port, but they're doing that with HW so who knows, depends on how busy the schedule for Q3/4 is going to be.
