It’s just that the Nintendo Switch is boring because it has boring menus, and boring Switch game titles.

I guess... not really I think it's fine but yeah you ought to listen to Northwind

Games I'm playing right now:
Tears of the Kingdom - Switch

Kingdom Hearts 2 - PS4
Ace Attorney Trilogy - Switch

@LinkxPeach I've wondered if the Wii U console sale slump scared Nintendo so much that Nintendo axed Virtual Console development to minimize financial risk creating the Switch. Absence of VC is baffling to me.

Regarding boring titles, I've loved Mario Kart 8, BOTW, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Mario+Rabbids, and you can't get them elsewhere. I got the Switch specifically for Mario Kart 8. Granted, I didn't have a Wii U, so MK8, Splatoon, BOTW were new to me. Also love Rocket League, Crash Team Racing, Trials Rising. I've never played a console as much as I've played the Switch. (although I hadn't bought a console since Gamecube & PS2.)

I'm very excited to see sequels games like BOTW 2, Splatoon 3, and Mario Odyssey sequal(if that happens).

edit: If I was going to buy another console, I'd get Playstation, hands down... Except, Forza Horizon series on Xbox has made that decision much harder. Forza Horizon 3 & 4 are amazing.(my brother has xbox, and we always play that.) I guess I still lean toward Playstation though has having the better game library. -obviously everyone has varying tastes in games, that's mine.

I completed Bowser's Fury 100% last week and have been enjoying Ring Fit Adventure a lot, which is becoming one of my favorite games, so I'm doing fine. I do think they are coasting with their releases since 2017, but I think 2022 is shaping up to be another heavy hitting year possibly with at least BOTW2, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4.

If you are finding a console boring then maybe it's not the console for you.

People have different tastes and each of the big 3 console companies serve a different audience. Nintendo is like the Disney of videogames, they try and focus more on family friendly stuff and games as a life style with titles such as Ring Fit. Sony focuses on more Japanese centric games while MS focuses more on PC, action type games and games as a subscription base.

Basically if you find the Switch boring maybe you just aren't into the type of games Nintendo offers, nothing wrong in that and in that case you might want to try what Sony or MS are offering.

As far as original content, yeah. It has its moments for sure, but as of now it’s missing something. Golf will fill that void some. Without Donkey Kong or it’s own proper Mario Kart, the console feels incomplete. It doesn’t quite have a full identity.

OP, before anyone starts to convince you that this is the wrong place, I will say yes it IS boring.
It lacks in 1st party support, it struggles to have its own identity (thanks to all 3rd party and Wii U ports), it even lacks the notorious nintendo console charm.

After 4 years of watching how platform evolves into what it is today I just gave up and started to wait on the next nintendo generation. Of course, quite possibly Switch will have 1 or 2 more games worth picking up (like BotW2 or MP4), but so far it's been a quiet dissapointment if you compare it to previous generations like Wii/DS, Wii U/3DS.

@anynamereally Most of my problems have to do with Nintendo's first party releases on the system. Most of them are pretty weak, with Nintendo themselves having the mindset of launching a game then finishing it later, like with New Horizons or Mario Tennis.

I'm sick of this argument. In 2018 they did do that for some of their titles out of I assume partially desperation to get stuff out for the Switch's 2nd year, and it was overdone and dumb. No one was going nuts for Kirby content updates. But most of their titles just aren't this. The vast majority of their titles are by any normal standards, complete video games. There are issues within that, and Nintendo's over-reliance on most of their games being 60 dollars is far from ideal, but my problem with those cases is rarely that they were rushed out to be updated with a worthwhile amount of content later.

And to me Animal Crossing feels ultimately like a more lateral move in terms of content than people imply. I always felt like the mayor aspect of New Leaf was really overstated by people, and the game itself also had a major content update years after the fact. Not to mention City Folk, which is just a Wild World console port with some minor changes/additions. There's some things that feel weirdly lacking, but there's also some things where people just don't want to admit they don't like what they focused on for content this time.

Regardless, most first party Switch games just simply have a comparable amount of content to other well liked full priced games even before updates (if they get updates), and enough of the ones that shouldn't be full priced games are the ones that didn't get updates anyway. I'm not even saying this to make an argument of opinions, that's just obviously true. After 2018, I'm not even sure there's a 2nd game other New Horizons where I can see an argument against that (though I could be forgetting something).

Look I get having to wait for a game sucks, but do you guys want them to rush it? do you want it to be incomplete like @VoidofLight said, and just finish it later, they said why they MP4 is taking so long, they didn't like How it was turning out so they started over, I think they should have the right to start over some thing if they wish. its like if your creating art/ or a game that you want to sell well, why in the world would you just be all "Hey the game is looking pretty crappy but I think I will waste the money anyway", And we haven't been waiting for BOTW 2 for to long, (In terms of when they showed it off) Like good lord BOTW had A hell of a lot of content packed in, for all we know, there trying to go beyond that.

Now i'm not saying you can't be mad on waiting such a long time on a game KH3 Cough but when they take there time on a game, it could tern out really well, I mean the main issue with sonic game's for me is that they rush it, Hell sonic forces was made in less then a year, that to short for a game to be made, I rather wait 4 years for a sonic game, then get a pile of crap. But this is just me tho, so nobody has to take anything from this, I Just think Void has a good point.

I agree with the OP, I can only watch the Switch menu for about an hour or two before I get bored of it and the game titles are boring too like Super Mario Maker 2. Why not "The Return Of Super Mario Maker: 2 The eXtreme".

@Snatcher Smash is great, it's menu has a video clip play unlike other game's menus which just shows a boring picture and press start button therefore it's the least boring Switch game. ;p

@kkslider5552000 But unless you really like customization, New Horizons has nothing in terms of gameplay. No progression system, with the updates just handing you upgrades and stuff, and loads of social sim elements cut, which people defend saying “They weren’t good anyways!”

@jump True, true, I should do more watching of the screen's.

1. What do you mean by boring menus?

Menus need to be simple, clean and easy to understand. If you want a labyrinth of ugly menus filled with errors look no further than Xbox One. I hate its menus and I frequently get error like "Something went wrong. Please try again later!" after spending 10 minutes trying to find my screenshots folder.

If you are spending your time in the menus of a console you are doing something wrong.

2. Also boring games?

Do you buy games blindly and expect them to be good? How about making a little 10-15 minutes of research before purchasing a game? Or at least buy games from genres that you like.

AMEN well said this is most likely TROLLing posting without nothing better to offer. As others said no one told you to buy the Switch. If it's that boring sell the Switch and Games and go to another platform - your obviously trying to get some Rise for something that has nothing to do with Switch at this point.
