@linq Glad you liked it, thanks.

Technically speaking, she has seen my Switch, but I don't think she realised that it wasn't Wii U related.

I was playing ARMS late one night, with the Switch in tabletop mode on a shelf and me holding the split joy cons for motion punches.

She was asleep upstairs, but is a light sleeper and one of the kids had a cough and woke her up. I heard her get up and assumed she was going to check on the kid (which she often did in such circumstances), so I carried on playing quietly below, but to my horror I heard her instead coming downstairs. I went into absolute panic mode, flapped about trying to put the Switch to sleep while I still had the joy cons in each hand, and was still trying to get it all hidden when she came in the room, saw I was trying to hide something, saw the guilt-ridden look on my face, and came over to chastise me (she's always grumpy if woken).

Whether it was because she was half-asleep, didn't realise what she was seeing, or did but actually doesn't care, I still don't know, but she never mentioned it.

But I think that was the last time I played ARMS sadly, the trauma seemingly having scarred me on it

I currently own:
Commodore 64
Nintendo: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U and Switch
Gameboy Colour, DSi, 3DS, New 3DS XL
Sega: Master System 1 & 2, Mega Drive 1 & 2, Saturn, Dreamcast
Sony: Playstation , PSOne, Playstation Net Yaroze, Playstation 2, Playstation 3
Microsoft: Xbox (original)

That's about it I think, still use my PS3 for Blueray/DVD player and Netflix as don't own a smart TV.
My 3DS I still use every morning doing the two free Badge Catchers (not sure why just part of my daily habit now)
My switch I use every lunchtime at work for half an hour, and sometimes at home when wife is watching some program I'm not in to.
The others are just part of my collection, not on show but I love them all the same even though I don't use them.

I only plan to get the Switch Lite. I haven't gamed in 5 years, so it'll be the only one I have now. The ps5 and xbox One are too bulky and expensive for me.

Of the currently supported consoles I have just the Switch. I also have a Wii U and SNES Classic boxed up for the time being. I don't quite have the time I used to play, so the Switch meets my needs and doesn't take up as much space. But to be honest, since getting it I haven't really been spending like I have in the past.

Even though I own Nintendo platforms and they played a big part in my formative years, I have to give credit to the numerous PlayStation platforms and franchises that played a big role in my childhood. I owned a PS3, PSP and a Vita, and also bought a PS4 2 years after launch.

Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Marvel vs. Capcom, Devil Summoner/Survivor, Jet Set Radio, Darkstalkers, Street Fighter and Viewtiful Joe are examples of franchises I grew up with

Yep, only own a Switch. As a married working adult, I don't have the time or money to just spend spend spend on video games. I've always liked Nintendo type games and the Switch gives me a great selection of first party titles, indie releases and enough AAA selections to itch my gaming scratch. The hybrid portability is the icing on the cake that sold me on the Switch compared to the PS4 or Xbox One.

I primarily play on Nintendo consoles. I have a super powerful PC and a PS4 but I much prefer playing on Switch due to the game library fitting me more overall.

There are only a few games on PS4/PC that really drew me in like Bloodborne and Dark Souls. Meanwhile Switch is getting a ton of different other games that PC/PS4 don't have at all.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

Systems I've owned in the past:

NES
Super NES
Game Boy
Game Gear
Nintendo 64
Playstation 2
Wii
Wii U
Switch
NES Classic
Super NES Classic

Of these systems, the only one I was less than keen on was the Wii. Besides playing Wii Sports sometimes with friends and Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, it was a wonderful dust collector.

I have all the current consoles, but like @iKhan said, most multi-platform AAA games don't really appeal to me anymore, so I'm mostly playing my Switch and World of Warcraft these days. Yea, it's kind of sad, but I just kind of despise most of the game design in the big titles anymore. It's all the same, just different color palettes. Kind of the reason why BotW was such a stab to the heart for me.

Nintendo: NES Classic, SNES Classic, N64, GBA, DS (original), 3DS & New 2DS XL, Wii U, Switch
PlayStation: PlayStation Classic, PS3, PS4
Xbox: Xbox (original), Xbox One S
Formerly owned: NES (RIP), GBA SP (lent to ex's brother and never got it back), DSi (traded), Wii (gave to friend)

All my consoles (except the NES Classic because it’s just sitting on my desk right now) are hooked up and ready to play. I even have a second TV just for the N64 and original Xbox (sadly, it’s not a CRT, but it has the 4:3 ratio and it’s pretty good for retro). I also have a decent laptop, which I mostly use for The Sims (1-4 & Medieval, all expansions & stuff packs plus store items) and Dragon Age.

Haha true. While there have been some Wii U ports, more so it's that there aren't quite as many new experiences on Switch that resonated with me like new experiences did on Wii U. Switch kind of feels like more of the same, which isn't a bad thing but compared to me experiencing Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, or Breath of the Wild for the first time ... kinda feels hollow. But I don't have a 3DS, so I think this year and the next the Switch will be much better for me personally since it seems to be getting a lot of handheld franchises that I haven't experienced before or in a long time. Super Mario Odyssey and Smash Ultimate are amazing but otherwise I haven't been too impressed by anything on the Switch front, although Pokemon Sword/Shield, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, or Astral Chain could potentially be those experiences.

Gotta be honest, this is kind of the opposite of me. The Wii U is the only Nintendo home console I haven't purchased in my lifetime, because very few of the games really drew me in. I wanted to buy it, I really did. I kept going to Best Buy in the summer to play demos on the units. I played sometimes with my friends.

But every single time I was let down. Super Mario 3D World just felt so much like a 2D Mario game, which I have very little interest in. Hyrule Warriors was incredibly dull. I honestly preferred the gameplay of Mario Kart Wii to that of Mario Kart 8 until I got to play the DLC included in the Switch version.

I'm usually one who will play a franchise and genre I have experienced a lot before a new one, so while Pikmin 3, TW101, Bayonetta 2, and Splatoon looked cool (and I did eventually get Splatoon 2), they weren't the type of games to make me buy a system.

Smash Wii U was fine, but I had the 3DS version, and that had Smash Run. I'm not a 2D Platformer guy at all, so no thanks on DKCTF, Yoshi's Woolly World, Rayman Legends, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, NSMBU, NSLU, or Super Mario Maker..

So ultimately the only games on Wii U I can tell you for a fact I would have bought day one for the system are Xenoblade Chronicles X and Breath of the Wild.

The Switch grabbed me from day 1 with Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Mario Odyssey coming out in the same year. I felt a lot more comfortable experimenting on a console that I knew had games for me, so I checked out ARMS and loved the demo, so I bought the whole game. My friends all were playing Splatoon, so I finally sprung for that. This year, Luigi's Mansion looks really damn good, so I might get that too. The friends thing is huge too. I don't usually rebuy games, but getting to play Tales of Vesperia with friends was not an opportunity I could pass up.

@iKhan I hear you, it's all personal preference. Just like you I'm not a big fan of 2D platformers — got Celeste on Switch and have barely progressed through it even though it's one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played — but Super Mario 3D World felt like a 2D platformer that was a lot more creative and unique. Each level felt like it played with an idea and was its own unique concept — the levels never felt repetitive and kept the game fresh. I think it's my favorite "2D" platformer ever.

I think Wii U has a majority of the Nintendo franchises I like, so when Switch came with sequels or ports to those franchises, they certainly improved on things but never quite reached the same level of excitement I had when I played the original games. However, I think the upcoming games of Pokemon, Link's Awakening (2D Zelda), Astral Chain, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Animal Crossing are going to be the start of the Switch feeling truly unique to me compared to the Wii U (since those are all franchises that did not appear on Wii U). I think by 2021 I'll be singing a different tune about the Switch (once more handheld franchises come out for it and perhaps BotW 2 and Odyssey 2 come out). That being said, Mario Kart 8 is a lot better on the Switch than on Wii U. Besides the Battle Mode being way more fun, I think it's something about the Switch hardware that makes Mario Kart so much more fun — it's the first time where I can see how just simply being on the Switch makes a game so much more fun to play. And as you said it's awesome to actually know people who have the system lol. Makes playing Smash and Splatoon much more fun.

@Grimy I have a mid-level gaming laptop that's a few years old, but I never play games on it. It's Switch or boardgames for me.

I'm not against owning a PS4 or XBOne in principle, it's just that I don't have any real need for more than one console. There's only one of me, I work and do housework and care for two kids and a dog, and I have other hobbies too. Where am I going to find time to play games on more than one console?

Switch, Wii U, Wii, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, 3DS, DS, GBA SP-101, GBA SP-001, GBA, GB, Dreamcast, Genesis, PS1, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DO, 1 midrange laptop and one higher end laptop.

Most of these are hooked up and ready for play, but they all don't get heavy play. May be months between uses for some of them, but it's nice to have the options to play whatever I'm feeling like and we're a family of 5, so there's options for everyone.

The highest used ones are the Switch and 2 laptops. The higher end laptop is mine I use for gaming and the midrange is the one the kids use for Fortnite, Minecraft, Rocket League and such.

Switch only, baby! At least for current-gen. I have lots of older consoles.

My interest in modern AAA cinematic games is very limited, so I don't feel the need to invest in PS4 or XBox One.
