Talking about this game on this forum reminds me of being a kid. Talking about The Legend of Zelda secrets and tips on the playground during recess. Or the proper boss order in Megaman 2....Sorry, just an old fart reminiscing. @BrainOfGrimlock Hey Grimlock, Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong.
@Sadist All I can say is 'Tears ahead'. Blighttown is... hell. I mean, I love it because of how oppressive and eerie it is, but the first couple of runs, for reasons I won't spoil, are just hell. Just... take it slow and make sure you've cashed in your souls before you head down there. Oh, and look for the loot on the platforms below you! There's a few really neat trinkets you can nab down there.
Also, anyone else notice the 'saving' icon, the little flame in the top right, has been blinking non-stop since yesterday? I looked it up scared I'd corrupted my save or something. Apparantly it just has to do with the daylight savings nonsense; if you change your timezone -I'm in +01:00 by the way- to +02:00 it'll stop; even without quitting the game.
Also, I've discovered what I think is the coolest look for my toon; Giant's Helm, Eastern Armor, Ornstein's gloves and leggins, Eagle Shield and the Iaito or Halberd (or Dragonslayer Spear once I get strong enough to wield it).
My toon looks like some kind of Samurai-Centurion hybrid. It might not be the very most effective outfit, but gosh darn if I don't look hella stylish.
@Quarth or caught you off guard I'm always afraid of the Depths because of that one mistake and you are dead with half your life. Well my current armor has good curse resist so xD
@zionich yir darn tootin'! I spent the whole game in the Elite Knight set way back when on the PC because it was really good stat-wise. And it looked fine 'n all but it was so... un-creative? Boring?
Now, the Eastern Armor IS in fact a pretty terrible piece of gear, especially because it requires loads of twinklies to upgrade... as does the Giant helm, which is heavy as heck so I can only avoid fatrolling with both F&P and Havel's shinies...
But heckin' heck do I look stylin'. Especially as a glorious Golden phantom. Which, obviously, for me is like half of my playtime. Sunbro for life 'n all that.
I beat the Moonlight (I think) butterfly last night. Wasn't as hard as I thought it might be and it taught me how to proper dodge tbh. Took about 5 to 6 tries. Now I'm not sure where I want to go.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I haven't found any armor I really like yet. I think I will stick with the Gargoyle Tail Axe for my weapon sense I have already been dumping points in Dex.
@Spoony_Tech What leoes12 said. Make sure you got some purging stones and blooming purple moss for the trip. You'll need them.
@zionich It's pretty gud. I prefer pokey-pokies and slicy-slicies (read: spears/halberds and katanas) for my dex builds, but the GTX has some pro's. Some nice resists. Stuns things. Decent range. Style points for wobbling like it's some how sentient and drunk.
I'm starting to like the magic user thing. I've done the Asylum lik3 5 times now with different charcacters and am starting to understand the flow of the game. I can now blaze from the start to the bonfire in Undead Burg in like 20 minutes or less. I'm really not sure how to do a build at all, and the 30 spell limit to start is really annoying (can't wait to find more spells.) Changing to a mage changes my entire perception of the game. Granted it was changing with the knight too. Knight feels kind of "canon" for the story, but also makes me perceive the game as an action game. Playing a mage makes me perceive it as an RPG and my thinking process is very different.
