Purchased. Played the 10 minute trial, runs like a dream. Figured it would since Stadia works perfect for me. Glad to see this kind of game coming to Switch this way considering the only alternative is not at all.
There's a lot of people giving out about this being a cloud version. Some people have little to complain about.

@Octane Good point, though it'll be a little while in that case. Likely until there's a price drop. I've leaned towards the PS ecosystem for some time now due to a preference for some of its exclusives, but I'm also not on board with the current PS5 design. Aesthetics aside, I don't really have the proper entertainment center space for something that big. I either need to do some rearranging, buy a smaller TV, or wait for a more compact revision lol.

Tried on the graphics mode last night. Slightly stuttery, but not enough that I think it would affect the playing experience. Seems a cool game, and I’m interested in playing more, but I’ve got a decent gaming laptop that can handle this natively.

TBH, I am never going to pay for a cloud title like this, but I’d have liked ever so slightly longer - maybe 10-15min - to test the service. If something like Game Pass were to stream on Switch, offering multiple, high-quality titles at a competitive rate, I can see the attraction. But I’d still want games I can play on the train - or whenever my internet goes down. I don’t see this as an endgame, but a complement to the existing software model. And if I could only pick one, I’d take native over streaming in a heartbeat.

Anyway, Control - on the wish list for me, but not on Switch. I’m glad the option exists, though. This may not be the title that makes me jump on board streaming - though it is a very good one - but I can imagine there being one further down the line, especially once my laptop can no longer keep up. Maybe Final Fantasy XVI, or whatever comes after Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red.

@Tyranexx It's not the main reason why I'm buying a new TV cabinet, but it's a good excuse. My TV barely fits, and there's hardly any space underneath. So this is a good excuse to upgrade the whole setup lol.

I’ve found the Performance mode is the way to go. For some reason 30fps doesn’t feel as smooth via cloud gaming, but the 60fps makes it feel pretty good.

Obviously if you have other ways to play it’s preferable to do that, but for Switch only gamers this is a great way to gain access to games otherwise inaccessible. My only complaint really is that due to the number of cons of cloud gaming, such as portable play basically being off the table outside of the house, the pricing should reflect that.

If they sold these cloud versions of games for $20 each, I think the pros would start outweighing the cons. At that price I think a lot of people would suddenly become interested, even people who were initially skeptical of cloud gaming. Get the pricing right and suddenly this becomes a very reasonable proposition.

@Krull I'm calling FFXV. Knowing that Square actually looked into trying to port the main game onto Switch to the point where they even experimented with transferring the Luminous Engine assets into UE4 to get it to work, makes me think that cloud streaming is probably going to pique their interest considering they had to settle on Pocket Edition as a compromise

I'd also say in addition to FFXVI I can see FFVII Remake coming to Switch via that format after the 1 year-exclusivity period with PlayStation is up, although it'll probably release after the Xbox and PC versions

@Octane Hey, if you need more reasons to upgrade an entertainment center setup, who am I to argue? I could afford to get a larger setup with more space/storage if I wanted, but there's really no need right now.

Recommended you go into Options and turn off Film Grain. Looks great on PC but via streaming, not so much. Seems much clearer with it turned off.

Use 5Ghz WiFi, not 2.4Ghz. It was laggy for me with the 2.4Ghz which I tried just to test. But the 5Ghz works great (5Ghz channel in WiFi router settings must be set to less than 150 for Switch to detect, I use channel 100 but it’ll depend on what WiFi signals are crowding certain channels in your local area).

Performance mode feels much more responsive. Normally I’m ok with 30fps but via cloud streaming, it adds just enough latency that 30fps doesn’t feel good, and 60 feels about as good as 30 normally would. So ya, don’t even bother with the Graphics mode. Performance all the way for cloud.

I’ll continue to update with recommended settings to help people get the most out of this game as possible as I do more testing,

This game is tense. And weird. Loving it so far.

I played this on a 5Ghz wifi 100Mb connection with the graphics mode to see how good it can look with raytracing and had no problems at all. Ran as if it was native and looked amazing. The only issue was with controller sensitivity being too high but this is the first time i've actually been impressed with cloud gaming after trying Stadia and XCloud which both had issues. Still wouldn't buy into it and I think Microsoft has the best approach out of anyone where it's added optional value with Game Pass Ultimate and you can download the games if you prefer. @Jaxon I didn't have any problems at all with the graphics mode so it's worth trying

jump

Control is currently 30% off.

I know a few people were put off as they don’t like the idea of playing a cloud game for that price so maybe this will convince them to try.
