Has anyone else noticed this as well or is it just me. When I'm getting a switch game the DL version seems more higher than the cartridges. Not sure if it's because the switch has been out for a while or what just thought it was a little odd. I've pretty much went back to buying all cartridges just because it's cheaper. Good example going to get story of seasons pioneers of olive town Nintendo switch later found both online & in the store for around $20 where the eShop wants $40. The same with Mario tennis aces Nintendo switch game eShop $60 Walmart has it for $40. I thought Nintendo wants gamers to DL but there pricing for games is weird these days. I'm thrilled I can get the games cheaper in cartridge it's just odd. ✌️
Happy Gaming! (^~^)

That's Nintendo for you especially when it comes to first party stuff. I know like Microsoft will have sales quite often on digital games which is one reason most of my Xbox library is digital. Nintendo seems to only have digital sales on first party stuff a couple times a year. They just had a sale for March 10th (Which I still don't understand what makes that day special for Nintendo but whatever) which is why I bought Super Mario 3D World since I was wanting that for a while. Then they usually have a sale around E3 and then again around Black Friday.
But yeah it's just Nintendo being Nintendo.

For the switch these days yes. For older consoles / handheld's. I buy alot of my handheld's / consoles on release / launch date & for a long time at least before whatever the price of the game was. It was usually the same price as the eShop. At least before like I said I'm thrilled I can get the games cheaper. To me I check every game before I buy it & if I can get it cheaper as DL then I DL or if I can get it as cartridge cheaper. Even the games I imported some of them I can get cheaper as cartridges. I think you very well might be right about stores not liking to sit on physical games anymore. It's great for me though lol~ I'm enjoying checking out Walmart's clearance section for video games~ 🤣
Nintendo are in a funny situation - they still sell (and always will be in a position to sell) more physically than the other players, in part because their audience skews younger. A physical game as a gift is much better to open on a birthday or Christmas than a card that says "eShop credit". Because of this they have to protect their relationship with retailers more and that makes it harder for them to undercut physical even if they wanted to (which typically they don't).
Paradoxically Nintendo also skews older and in some cases less tech savvy and their older audience also likes to buy physical.
