@VoidofLight Exactly. Just be sure that they have good water attacks.

Oh man. I wasn’t expecting Chapter 2 to end like that.

I might be in the minority here, but I actually prefer silent protagonists. I have a more personal experience/relationship with the side characters when I portray myself in the main character.

I’m still in Chapter 2. The scene with Lily was very creepy, especially with that background music. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.

I also finally got trounced in BnD. She mopped the floor with me and squished all my bug friends. Guess I’ll need to come up with a new strategy.

Man God Speed Strike is really broken. I just beat one of the chapter 2 bosses just by spamming it.

Monk’s Pressure Point is similar too. Just not reliant on the speed start.

Spoilers for chapter 2. I wasn’t expecting the painter asterisk holder to be an insane little girl who killed innocent people. I wasn’t actually expecting them to just show a bunch of corpses either. Elvis’ reaction to the deaths and to the painter woman was also great. He’s frankly my favorite character in the entire game.

@shining_nexus In my case, I like both silent and talking protagonists, the latter when done right. And yeah, one really feel bad for Lily's story.

@VoidofLight (SPOILERS FOR A CHARACTER OF CHAPTER 2 and CHAPTER 1) Yeah, she's a psycho and an even better villain than Prince Castor, which is also a good one. Her asterisk and the Ranger asterisk would be useful when you reach chapter 3. Oh but have at least one healer like the Red Mage (END OF SPOILERS).

You just put a lot of hype on Chapter 2 for me.

@shining_nexus I'd honestly say it's better than the first chapter and prologue in terms of the mini-arc going on through it. It makes me want to keep playing more of the game to know what the other chapters are going to be like in the future.

My, I like all the jobs of Chapter 3. There's even one that returned after being only in Bravely Default 1! And it's quite good! 😊

Oh wow, Godspeed Strike is really OP now that I’ve been using it more often. However, the MP cost isn’t ideal to use during normal fights to take out high health baddies quickly. Could always stock up on those ether pots of course. I found Pressure Point to be more efficient since it consumes BP instead of MP.

What strategies or abilities do you folks use to take out trash mobs quickly and efficiently?

shining_nexus

VoidofLight

@shining_nexus I just stock up on Ether and use God Speed Strike over and over. As well as the Berserker skill that hits all of the enemies.

shining_nexus

@VoidofLight that Berserker skill is so good. I’m trying to learn it with all my characters so I can spam attacks and go on auto pilot. Haha

For me, I'm trying to get the level 6 skill of the Archer asterisk on everyone, so that I can stop counters, since they're starting to get annoying.

shining_nexus

@VoidofLight so true. I may invest JP into that job too. Those counters from the trash mobs (and bosses) can take me out if I’m not paying attention.

shining_nexus

Diddy64

@shining_nexus Yeah, they started to get annoying for me too at some point. How are you doing in chapter 2? I find bosses there kind of tough.

@VoidofLight I was using that ability for absolute ages. It wasn't until I reached a boss battle that I realized the ability only covered physical counters. Suffice to say that my strategy had to vastly change after that point in the game

The game had bit of a slow start but I've been enjoying it a lot more during the last 3 days. I spent ~7 hours doing side quests and playing B n' D (great addition) and now I went back to story stuff (since I didn't have any side quests left) and acquired the Thief asterisk. Needless to say the battle was very easy now compared to the previous time I fought him right before I went on a tangent. I'd just maxed out Adelle's Vanguard job and she dealt 2500 damage with a single Neo Cross Slash (there were also couple of buffs in effect). I'm usually not into being overpowered but this time it felt really good. I also really like the Beastmaster job. Not only does it have fun skills and makes the basic battles more enjoyable but you also get an awesome look.

Imported the soundtrack just now. There's also an artbook available but they tend to translate them so I'll just wait.

CHAPTER 2 SPOILERS

I’m at the Folie boss fight. My Switch is in sleep mode right before that fight. Galahad was the toughest battle I had so far. He wasn’t bad really, but the combination of his blind debuff with his 3 demon minions (one that paralyzes) made it a tough fight. Managed to beat him on my first try.

I basically took out the back minion (which was the healer I think?) then I had to take out Galahad himself next (Godspeed Strike destroyed him easily) because my elemental attacks were not doing any damage to his other two minions. I had Seth and Adelle deal damage, who were my physical damage dealers with monk abilities, and had Gloria and Elvis on healing and ether duty.

It was a pretty satisfying win for me. I really like how dark the story can get too and I can’t wait to see more.

@shining_nexus I took down Galahad by just spamming God Speed Strike with Adelle over and over.
