Hello,

I have my Switch since end of April and it has been running like a charm. I recently bought Dragonball Xenoverse and downloaded the free DLC. While downloading the DLC, I was using my Switch and went to the news section. The outlines of the news articles would appear but I would see frozen refreshing circles in each square rather than any pictures or text. It remained like this for a while as I thought it may be temporarily. The weird thing was that while the Switch would not change the image on the screen (I could not go back to the menu or click anything), I was still able to open the side quick menu, change volume and brightness, etc. However, clicking on Sleep Mode would not result in any action. After a while I heard the ring noise telling me the download was complete. I then kept pressing the POWER button to force turn off the Switch. After the restart, everything worked fine again.

Since then I have had the same weird black screen freeze while the side menu still works issue perhaps 3 or 4 times. Mostly when waking up the Switch from sleep mode after having not played for a couple of hours. Each time I had to force turn off the console and restart to fix the issue.

Has anyone experienced this? What could this be? Should I contact Nintendo? Has Dragonball ruined my console?

@silentium I've had the unresponsive buttons issue, but only once or twice, and not for ages now. Are you on the latest firmware?

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@gcunit The buttons still work, I can hear the sounds and can open the side quick menu and go through the options. It's just that the switch does not respond to what I select and shows a black screen (despite from the quick side menu which it displays normally).

Yes, latest firmware and I did not have any problems before installing the Dragonball DLC.

Try holding down the Power Button down for 12+ seconds and restarting the console afterwards...I had the exact same issue and this 'hard reset' seemed to fix the issue

Id still call Nintendo and use that 1 year warranty to your advantage..
Switch is glitchy. Just the way the Switch was built.

@NaviAndMii Yes, that's what I have done and it fixed it. But I have had this like 3 or 4 times now... have you had this multiple times or just once?

@silentium Oh, I see what you mean - no, just the once for me - but I have had various other (more minor) issues that the '12 second power down' thing has also been able to remedy...I can see why you'd be concerned that you seem to have a recurring issue though - might be worth contacting Nintendo Support to see what they say?

I have the same problem. However the problem isn't related to Dragonball because I don't own it. Wierd stuff is happening...

Seems like a few people have had this problem for the past week or so, myself included. Never happened to me until now.

I've had this a few times recently. Must be due a stability update.

My Switch froze on me on Wednesday, first time as well. I'd say it's down to the latest update as it seems to be effecting a few people.

And is the gaming area hot environment or cool environment?
