Topic: ARK: Survival Evolved

I am pretty surprised this game is releasing on the Switch. I have the PS4 and XB1 versions of this game and both versions have graphical and frame rate issues.

I have spent about an hour playing this on the Switch and I have to say that this is the worst Switch game I have ever played. The frame rate is horrific! Pop-ins happen with every single step you take. The textures look like something from the early PS2 days if not worse.

Avoid this game at all costs! I would not play this game if it were free. Here are some screen shots of this dreadful port.

My excitement for Ark on Switch lasted all of 5 minutes. Then I remembered how badly it performed on my X1, so I said nope.
We'll see how it performs once it's actually live, and what kind of lackluster support it can get.

I can deal with some iffy fps and even occasional stutters but, the handheld footage I saw released today was pretty bad. Definitely waiting to see if they can fix it up. Although the handheld footage has me thinking this one may be a lost cause.

Shame. This game would have been awesome to have on Switch too. Suppose PixArk is still coming. That one may fare better.

The screenshots don't look all that bad honestly. Surely most of us can overlook dips in quality and occasional frame rate drops and still enjoy the game for what it is, especially considering I've heard it runs badly on ps4 and X1.

@GameOtaku The screen shots are horrid looking. Like someone used the blur tool too much in photoshop. The game runs at a snail's pace. It is a very bad game...

Agree to disagree I guess. They don't look half bad to me. A friend showed me the horrid quality drop in X2 so this by comparison ain't bad at all.

I gotta say that's the most hideous port I've seen on Switch yet.

At least it's not a reflection of the Switch's hardware, though. The game just seems to be a mess everywhere.

lol well have at it. $50 for this piece of trash. Don't say you were not warned.

I played it for over a year and it was fun, cant wait to switch version.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it for sure. I have patience so hopefully won't have any issues.

@bluemage1989 It's also safe to assume that once the game is actually released to people that don't have scurvy and parrots, maybe there can be some better patches pushed out. Larger playerbase (that spent money) = more feedback.

Not likely...... And quit crying about how I got the game. Nobody cares how I get them.

Purchased, stolen, found, it doesn't matter. Piss poor port inside and out.

Looks like an uprezzed version of Turok, I've seen worse.

I'll add it to the collection once it's on sale.

No offense but what sort of graphical presentation were you looking for? The video you showed looks nice. Or have you played this game previously on another console or PC and have just been spoiled on it instead? Not every game is going to be Zelda, Doom or the like as far as graphics go on the switch (even with those games you'd probably have gripes about how it looks). Really now what in that video was as you put it trash?

The video you linked to didn't look tremendously bad. At least, it didn't look much worse than the PS4 footage I checked out right after.

With that said, this game looks janky and boring.
