So, this announcement seem to fly right over everyone's heads and under the radar of most gamers here. But as I'm learning out this announcement is absolutely huge.
Arena of Valor is the biggest game in China (which has the largest population of any country on the planet). 200 million users. Over 55 million active daily users. This game is up there with some of the largest of all time.

I had no idea it was that big. I've never played a MOBA before and I'm not sure how much I'd like them but I'm quite looking forward to trying out the beta of this game.
@Dogorilla
I mean hey, it's free to play so, it's not like we have anything to lose!
And monetization for MMO/MOBA's will typically be for expanding your playable characters or customization. So nothing really invasive like we see with typical F2P. Not sure how this particular game works but, I imagine you'll have specific characters you can play as (perhaps on a rotating schedule) and you can simply purchase characters as permanent unlocks.
Which is totally fine with me- if the game is as good as it seems to be, I've got no problem dropping 20 or 30 bucks on it to expand the roster and gain some customization options. That's still less than half of what you'd spend on a full release. And for those who don't want to, you can play the entire game for free... forever. It's not like there's any of those stupid play timers or anything like that

Had heard the name here and there before the announcement but never actually bothered with it or MOBAs in general. Even AoV coming to Switch, no matter how free to play it may be, doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Oh, wait.
Even that game is FREE on Mobile but still have to PAY for some Micro Transaction, right ?
Well, never have any interest with Aov, but I can tease my students with announcement of Aov for Switch.
@Anti-Matter
As I explained above, usually MMO/MOBA are non-invasive with their monetization approach. Typically you'll only pay if you want more characters or customization.
I can't say for sure with this game because I've never played it but my guess is it will have none of the invasive microtransactions we see in many mobile games. Ads and play timers and pay to win... I suspect none of that will be in the game

I've actually been gorging myself on the various character trailers and am now fully on board with this game. I've never tried MOBA's before - figured they weren't for me. Even though LoL always did look a teensy bit interesting.
Anyway, as I mentioned, I was just searching through the various character trailers for the game and eventually got caught up in it. I've already got a favorite I want to play as and would be more than happy to pay for the full game - if that is an option. Scanning the comments above this one, I guess I just need to pay for my chosen character (if necessary) one or two other things and that's it. Which is a shame, I prefer paying a full flat price but it's not so bad if it'll save me money in the long run. I probably wouldn't even use 3/4 of the 35+ characters available anyway. Lol.
I mean, how can you not like this?
Now my only real worry is how the control scheme will work on Switch. I hope it's not touch screen controls. I'd prefer if skills were activated using the triggers. Preferably holding them while using the Joycon sticks to aim then release to activate.
Never take anything I say seriously. S'all you buddy. ;)
Mainly play on my Switch but I have 3DS, Wii U and PS4 as well.
Fave game series include: Pokemon, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Disgaea, Bayonetta, Dragons Dogma, Phantasy Star & Arena of Valor.
@ThatNyteDaez
Pretty sure it's going to have controls. Usually games like this, when they get ported to consoles, get a nice console-version port with upscale graphics, button controls and all around improvements. The fan video I posted above, he seems to be really excited at the prospect of playing on the TV with a controller. So ya, I wouldn't worry about it.
Man, that was a good video you linked. I really like that character, and the sheer depth and quality of this game is starting to grab me.

@JaxonH Yeah, I do expect to get button controls too. But I'm reminded that, being a mobile title like Voez, the chance to keep it at touch screen controls is there. Well, if they opt to add both for us to choose from, that could only be a plus, I think.
I know, right? There are around 30+ characters in total, each with a similar video to that one on what the character can do, how they're generally played and possible combinations and tactics to use. They're all very interesting and each character has his or her own little system that really seems to stand out from the rest. This is definitely gonna be picked up by me asap when it shows up on Eshop! Who knew getting a console MOBA would be so exciting?

Yeah, this felt like it was buried under the DOOM and Wolfenstein II hype at the Nintendo Direct.
Nevertheless, it's a huge deal that Nintendo has not just any moba game under its wing for the first time, but Arena of Valor! The newest and biggest! The one that even dwarves the ultrahit League of Legends.
Ya normally I just ignore stuff like this but now that I'm checking it out, I'm really impressed. This is a legit, quality game. So few games which originate on mobile are of the caliber to fit in on consoles... But this looks like one of them. Looks more like a PC game than mobile, graphics aside (but that's getting a nice bump for Switch).

The Joker's supposedly in the game too, but I haven't been able to find his character video - if he has one at all.
Does this little cameo do anything for you guys? xD Personally, I'm no Batman fan. But its nice in itself to see some outside representation of some sort. Maybe it'll pave the way for some more later on.

@ThatNyteDaez I think a game that you only can play online with other people is not worth a common full game price. You cannot enjoy the game all by yourself, why should you pay it a full price with your money? Full priced games that don't give any kind of offline single player mode are a fraud imho.
