@gcunit I only started today! I'm keeping my chain going from the very first bullet to the end of the boss (and I'm nowhere near maxing that score out!) I reset when I die So I'm not very far in to level 2 but omg the score should be ridiculous! If you play this game like a regular shooter and destroy stuff before it's on the screen, you end up with a couple of mil a stage.
Well, I felt like I was doing pretty well in the first 3 stages. Nothing spectacular, but building up combos quite nicely compared to yesterday. And then I completely messed up stage 4 because I was thinking "this is going pretty well!". That somehow always happens.
Oh well, finally unlocked that weapon for having a 3000 chain and a new score for the board at least.

@masterLEON I did some Wii shopping as well this weekend. What did you get? I picked up Gate of Thunder, Konami Rebirth trilogy, Lit, FF4 The After Years, Sin and Punishment, La Mulana, Mr. Driller W, Excite Bike World, Bubble Bobble + and added another 5000 points ($50 U.S.) to use between now and January. @RetroGamerAndrew DU3 also kills my right hand after a couple runs, especially in handheld. My thumb, wrist and forearm get pretty sore. I've started using mostly my Pro Controller analog stick. My 8 Bit Do SNES Pro also causes pain after a couple runs, just not as much as handheld.
@GrailUK hehe. Yep that's what bullet hell games do to you.
Before you know it you'll be importing the Korean physical edition of Battle Garegga and paying 100€ for Bullet Soul on 360 like someone on here.
Not to mention import a Japanese 360 and order the complete Cave box set that might be going for 600€ around now.
I was just lamenting in the other thread how I wasn't able to do anything right in Mario Kart tonight, so I decided before going to bed to play one more game of Danmaku...
Then I somehow did this....
I'm not sure, but I don't think a human brain is supposed to work like that...
Mario Kart...hard! .....dodging 7 billion bullets at once? Piece of cake!
Yeah, something doesn't quite compute there...
Gonna call it a night because there is no way in hell I'm going to do this again tonight, so I'm just gonna go and play some Picross before going to sleep.

I've given myself an EastEnders style cliff hanger. Approaching the level 1 boss on 7 mil (the highest I've managed) with a 1302 multiplier. Paused the game and put my switch to sleep. Dum dum dum dum dddd dddd.
@wasilewski When a level starts, I go to the bottom middle of the screen and let the first wave fire some bullets before shooting them. That way you are always 'behind', chasing bullets. I find it easier to strafe at the bottom of the screen using spread shot. It doesn't destroy ships immediately so they shoot bullets. That way you can skim a bullet or pick up a blue ghost gem if you destroy them. Other than that, it's timing. Keep an eye on the bar on your left, and make sure you pick up or graze before it reaches the bottom.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@mauhlin I picked up way too much stuff, LOL! I got all of the Rebirth series, Sonic 1-3 and Sonic&Knuckles, My Life as a King and Darklord (with DLC), a bunch of other Genesis (including M.U.S.H.A. and I'm considering Gley Lancer), TG16 (Gate of Thunder, Psychosis, Super Air Zonk, and others), Chrono Trigger, FF II, FAST Racing League, the + games including DLC, some other WiiWare titles...Just a lot of games, really. And I'm left with 15,600 points for games I need to do more research on. I dedicated a chunk of my tax refund to this...but it still hurts the wallet, LOL!
@GrailUK Congrats on Metal Slug and DU3! Outstanding job! But, what the heck is a Gryzor? Contra-ry to popular belief, a Probotector is supposed to be a robot soldier.
@meppi64 Jeez laweez that's incredible! I got some work to do, methinks
@Lroy@Fafounet Mind the blinking yellow light on your ship, that's your ship's 'core'. Try to focus on that dot as you move it around and near the bullets. It'll help keep you alive. Also, practice 'tap dodging' like in the videos @wasilewski posted. You do that by tapping the direction you want to dodge, making the tiniest of movements, but just enough to keep you out of the path of a bullet and just close enough to 'graze' the bullet(s) with the smaller circle surrounding your ship.
Time to throw my hat into the ring. It's ok for an hour and a half, I guess I'll go back in later before I go to work.
I OFFICIALLY hate this game, it's driving me mad in so many ways. I'm trying to perfect level 1 and I think hell will freeze before I actually manage to perform a clean run. Either I lose the counter just before the start of the boss, or I do a dumb move like throwing myself into the laser-like pink shot, or again getting caught by one of the violet high-speed bullets in the very same phase. And holy ****, every time that happens I have to keep myself from throwing the console out of the window, fresbee style, crashing my head against the wall.
Yes, I think I might need a break...
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.
@masterLEON Thanks for the welcome and tips. Will just have to practice some more. Shmup are a little outside of my comfort zone, but thoroughly enjoying the game I have to say. Definitely a great pick!
Finally I get my fair share of gaming.
Praise the Switch!

@GrailUK looks like the weapons arent that important for getting a high score. I think the idea of different weapons is to pay homage to different shmups. Like the type C gun is very similar to one of the guns in Bug Princess 2.
