What’s the deal with visiting other islands? Does it use your Switch friends list at all? Is it a free for all like New Leaf? 🤔
Which islands are you talking about? There are special getaway islands in the game that you can visit using Nook Miles, but that's an offline feature. If you're talking about visiting other player's islands, I'm not sure how that works, exactly, but if it's over the internet then I'm fairly certain you'll need a paid Nintendo account.
I'm loving this game so far! It's only my second day in and I've already paid off my first house loan, Blathers is building the museum, and the shop is building too!
Question: I've been to two of the random islands and both were the same fruit as my island. Is that how it always works?
Also, I have pairs, is anyone willing to visit my island and trade me some other fruit for them? FC in my signature.

@Heavyarms55 : I didn't like the layouts and didn't realise that we are locked to one section of the island in the early part of the game (unless I'm missing something), but the layouts and fruits are definitely randomised if you delete your save and try again.
I didn't like my first choice of layout, the neighbours, or the local fruit (peaches again), but I was happy enough with what appeared the second time, so I've stuck with that.
I haven't played it docked, but the game is an absolute stunner in handheld mode. Just beautiful. And I love the depth of field effect when interacting with the animals.
Some of the items also look crazy realistic, which I wasn't expecting from an Animal Crossing game (such as the stone and hay items).
@Quarth
Oh, i remembered one thing.
Have you noticed your Airport color ?
From the trailer, i noticed the color of Airport were Green or Blue or other color.
What color of your Airport building ?
That was something like your Station color on ACNL 3DS.
I hope this game allows us to do a lot on the first day.
The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is the game slowly drips feeds you progression and to fill in the gap you have Nook Miles and fishing/bug catching. (just litter your island with all your catches till you can use them properly as you don't have enough storage space day 1 to store them all).
Nook Miles are the busy work that every other AC game needed and lacked.
