@Gorlock Well for one, the rumors are fake as hell.
On top of that- New Horizons is the Tears of the Kingdom game you fear. It neutered the series from what it used to be and took it into a sandbox decorating direction instead of the life sim elements from Animal Crossing games of the past. Flowers don’t wilt and die, and villagers don’t leave the village randomly anymore. There’s hardly any focus on progression and the house upgrades even got fewer in scale.
New Leaf (the one on the 3DS) had actual life sim elements that kept going even when you weren’t playing. Villagers moved out on their own, flowers decayed if they weren’t watered. Tools didn’t break just because of a few uses (and silver and golden tools had a reason for existing outside of being trophies). Holidays actually had build up that required you to be engaged through the month and talk to your villagers. Smaller Holidays like the Summer and Winter solstices actually existed. House upgrades let you increase the size of rooms to a degree New Horizons doesn’t have. There were tons of fruit and characters that New Horizons still doesn’t have. Multiple shop upgrades instead of just the one that we have in New Horizons.
New Horizons is the game that really simplified the series to a degree that pushed a good few of the older fans away.
@Gorlock
In ACNH, the villagers will NEVER moving out by themselves unless we kick them out intentionally, unlike previous older animal Crossing games.
The flowers and the crops will NEVER wilted in ACNH so you can get hiatus for very long time and when you return the game, your flowers & crops are fine, your villagers are fine and still on your island.
@Gorlock And yet I put the game down and never came back because it lacked in the charm of the originals. The game killed the series for me, since what kept me invested was the fact that it felt like it was another world that was in tandem with us. That if I weren’t there, it would keep marching on and things would keep constantly changing without me. Somehow that gave me purpose and made me want to play more, since it meant my actions were more meaningful as a result of that.
New Horizons is just a hollow shell. Completely empty and unchanging. It bends to the player’s will as to not cause “stress” or “sorrow.” Everything is completely stagnant and nothing ever happens without the player’s input. It’s bland. It’s boring. It’s a death of a franchise I used to love and adore. One that got me through tough times. All because people found the original games annoying.

Once again, ACNH is the only 1st party Switch game that I have the highest hype from all, like more than 90%.
The BEST Animal Crossing I have ever played.
I love designing my island, my house just like The Sims games.
I still like to play ACNH until today and have accumulated more than 1055 hours.
Some side activity I like to do is taking specific photoshoot to make my own story.
Whoever said ACNH is hollow and dead game, just play the Gamecube version.
Don't keep sprinkle the rain on my ACNH parade.
Pretty much I want to get Switch 2 for two machines if possible (1 machine is already expensive) just for playing ACNH so I can interact with my two save file of ACNH and exchanging items each other.
I want another Switch machine for the 2nd island and different villagers.
I like to time travel in ACNH and have collected the art pieces leftovers to be shared for my 2nd island in the future.
@Dev1024
I have learnt something from ACNH.
Don't kick out your first 8 different villagers too early.
Every villagers from 8 different personality will teach you different emotions that you can't get from other villagers if you kick them out too soon.
Keep befriend with them no matter how ugly their looking.
Once you get all emotion from 1 type of villager, it's up to you to keep them or kick them.
For my case, I missed certain emotions due to kick the certain villagers too soon before I get all the emotions from 1 type of villager.
Maybe I will be careful if I can get another Switch machine and making a 2nd island with different villagers list.
I played the game for the first time in nearly two years. It felt like I had returned home. Everyone was there, most importantly Wade (I love penguins, though Cube is kind of terrifying). I decided to celebrate my return by donating an ant to Blathers. Anyway, I shall begin to prepare for the inevitable terror that draws near. Easter is coming, and while that is usually when people remember the resurrection of Christ, it is also when a figure from Hades enters the world of Animal Crossing to terrorize players all around. HE IS COMING, EVERYONE. THE DEMON RABBIT IS COMING.
@StewdaMegaManNerd I recently came back to this game too! Got one more vacation home done in the DLC and I'm gonna try to finally complete my museum this year. Good thing I don't have any new fish to catch during Easter time, lol.

@Dev-N I really wanted to terraform my island (Inkadia) but after flattening about half of it I gave up. It is so tedious and since my decorating skills are.... eh, to say the least, I abandoned my island and pretty much live on the Archipelago now lol!
@CaleBoi25
My island looked very good and well designed as I measured first every single one square.
Then from my drawing sketch about how many squares of the length and breadth, I redraw again in my laptop with Coreldraw to make vector map. I spent a lot of hours just to decided the building placements, the location of second & third floor of terraforming, villager's house makeover, furnitures placement, the orchard, farm, etc.
After that I terraformed my whole island according to my blueprint.
There were some minor changes during island makeover to adjust with better design.
It took several days to makeover my island.
The new updates gave me some new items and new places idea so I did island makeover.
My island design is pretty simple with standard city like design (asphalt road, sidewalk, house complex, river, bridge, orchard, farm, bakery shop, graveyard, fish market, beach resort, boxing stadium, arcade, fitness gym, fun park, a few of cars, etc).
I still haven't find the right time to do island tour video recording to show my island after got makeover long time ago after I bought DLC of HHP for $25 and the final update.
I prefer to show my island during Spring to Summer as the grass looked fresh green color to see.
I have link of my YouTube video about my ACNH island before makeover that I recorded 4 years ago.
Here is my ACNH island 4 years ago.
I got the experience of house design from playing The Sims games so it gave me some ideas to do island makeover.
@CaleBoi25 Oh that's cool, I still have yet to finish the DLC, haven't played it as much as I wanted to for some reason. I feel like I overthink things a lot when I'm designing folks' vacation homes, haha. That's probably why. But I do really like it.

@MarioVillager92 I think part of what killed my drive to "finish" my island is HHP, actually. After having the ease of decorating mode, manually grabbing and pushing and carrying things around was horribly tedious. That, and Palia (another life sim that I play) has a ton more options. I am totally fine with AC's square placement system, but it is a pain for me to have to slowly place things! 😅
Who else agrees that the next game in the series needs to have an easier way to get the paintings and statues? In this one, you either have to wait for Redd to randomly set up shop on your island every now and then with a small selection of art (and it’s possible for all of them to be fake), or you’ll have to donate 100,000 bells to help him set up a shop on Harv’s island, where he’ll have a selection of two pieces of art, and the selection only changes every Monday, unless you buy a piece, after which Redd will replace the item with another one the next day. But most of the time (at least for me), both pieces are fake. So you either have to wait till the next Monday when the selection is refreshed, or you’ll have to buy one item so that another one will replace it the next day. And regardless of whether you buy it from his ship or RV shop, you can only get one item per day. Normally, I wouldn’t care about getting the art, but I’m trying to complete the museum, and I only have a few artifacts in the art section. I really hope they make it easier to get the art in the next game.
@StewdaMegaManNerd Please no. They already watered down the series enough with New Horizons. Making it even more watered down would ruin the need for any Real Time clock to even remotely exist.

@StewdaMegaManNerd
The easier way so far to get all paintings and art stuffs in ACNH by doing Time Traveling.
I did time traveling so many times just to exploit all the art stuffs for museum and my art stuffs was already completed long time ago.
Yosh...!
Another photoshoots I took last time at Harv Island.
These are my closest looking of my fictional police department characters from BAPD (Blue Asterion Police Department) since ACNH have very limited hairstyle for boys so I tried to give the closest hairstyle from my original design.
