Any news on a review?

Also wondering if anyone had picked this up yet and what their thoughts are. I've got a Switch on back order due in the next few weeks and am looking at eShop releases that would be good on the move. A decent shmup is just the ticket.

@WrongChops I bought it the day it launched.I own all the Neo Geo shoot-em-ups so far and I think Aerofighters 2 is my favourite.I mostly just play the high score mode with 1 continue,it's really addictive. One complaint I have though is with the audio,it's really low compared to other Neo Geo games.I think that was an issue with some previous games too but it was patched,so hopefully it'll be fixed soon enough. If I was to recommend just 1 shoot-em-up though it has to be Strikers 1945,it's superb.Only problem is if you're playing it on the move it's not really suitable as it really needs to be played in TATE mode, the screen is too narrow otherwise. You can buy a stand cheap enough though.

You can't go wrong with either.AF 2 and Strikers come with a strong recommendation from me.

I've already got Strikers 1945 II on my PS1. Played on an old, square Trinitron so the TATE mode isn't an issue. Otherwise I probably would have gone with your recommendation.

On a random side note, Oor Wullie and The Broons were my Dad's favourites growing up. He would get the annuals every year for Christmas and I now have his entire collection stashed away under my bed!

I'd say Aero Fighters 2 and Strikers 1945 are pretty much equal, it really just depends on the question if you want a game in normal fullscreen orientation (AF2) or a game that's supposed to be played with the scree in vertical orientation (TATE mode) to take advantage of the Switch's ability to easily do this in tabletop mode (S1945).

Also, keep in mind that if the game you have on PS1 is Strikers 1945 II, that's the second game in the franchise and not the same one that just came out on Switch. (I hope the Switch will get 1945 II and 1945 III later).

How easy is it to TATE though? Some of the solutions I've heard about sound kinda clumsy.

I know that it's the first Strikers game on Switch. I just didn't think there would be a big enough difference between the two games to make it worth buying.

@WrongChops I lay down with my legs up and sit the Switch against them, playing with split Joy-con and my arms resting either side of me.,.Either that or I just lay it down flat and look down on it,this way you can play with the Pro..Either way is fine for me.Of course the best solution is to get a tablet stand, they don't cost much.I'll get one for when I get my arcade stick, hopefully next month.

I'm mainly looking to purchase a shmup to play on the go in handheld mode as I already have a fairly sizeable collection on other consoles. This means I'm still leaning towards AF2.

If you mostly play in handheld mode, i think Aero Fighters 2 is te better choice.

About playing in TATE mode, it's really easy on the Switch. I use my Hori stand and it works perfectly. From what i've heard, other stands like the 3DS stand for Kid Icaus work well, too.

My TV in landscape mode with borders would be a larger surface area that the Switch in TATE. It is nice having full screen though.

Ideally I'd like another massive TV set on its side just for games that TATE. That's the dream.
