@Lroy sounds fun! I should probably check out splatoon 2 sometime, never really played it nor the original.
@Fafounet Glad to hear it (about Thimbleweed)! The eshop sale ended, so I may wait it a bit longer to give it a shot. I grew up playing the old Sierra adventure games, and have some memories of others like Manic Mansion. Always wanted to try more of the Lucas ones too.
Anyone here play Fast Racing RMX or have any thoughts on its multi-player? Really tempted to buy it. Also just picked up MK8, so I'll be able to hop on a future game night hopefully!
Looking for some help. I've just bought Splatoon 2 and so far done a little single player and some Turf Wars and made it to level 4. Going to be honest here I'm not very good haha I normally am pretty good when it comes to third person shooters and to be honest I thought I'd find Splatoon a little easier than I am. Has anyone any tips or advice for someone starting out?? At the moment I am just running around a little lost spraying a lot and getting splatted a lot by rollers!! How does ranked compare to Turf Wars??
@bluemage1989 I'm still learning the game at nearly 70hrs in so my advice is very much as an amateur at this game.
I would play the single-player mode. Jumping into Turf Wars whenever you want to take a break from the single-player campaign. I would also highly recommend tying Salmon Run (Grizzo). That for me, at least, has been the best part of SPLATOON 2.
However, I'm yet to even really try the other ranked modes. So, I'll let those with more knowledge guide you further.
EDIT: If you fancy it and we can get others here onboard. Let's have a SPLATOON 2 games night soon.
@Lroy thanks for the advice. Kinda glad that at 70 hours your still learning as I was starting to feel at 5-10 hours maybe I was missing something everyone else was getting instantly!! I will give Salmon Run a go as well see what it is all about. I will have a few games without gyro aiming and see how that affects my performance. As for a Splatoon game night I'd definetely be up for that ill try and bring my A game
@bluemage1989 Whatever you do, don't play without motion controls.
It feels weird at first since barely any game uses it, but once you push through that quite steep learning curve, you'll never want to go back.
Motion controls in Splatoon will give you a much higher level of accuracy over time and will certainly give you the ability to do much quicker turns and snap from one target to the next.
The single player is really a good place to get you started on all main weapons, and Salmon Run is a great mode to get accustomed to weapons you struggle with, even though you'll fail quite a bit at first.
I'm terrible with snipers for instance, but Salmon Run is teaching me to use them a bit smarter.
I'm not good with them at all yet, but at times I'm starting to hit certain shots that really matter and the feeling of that is something I haven't gotten in any of the online FPS games that I've played in the past 5 years. Well besides sniping choppers and jets with an RPG in BF4.
@Lroy Once you start, it's certainly hard to put down thats for sure.
I was planning on playing half an hour or so and ended up playing an hour and a half if I'm not mistaken.
That one level I noticed that I couldn't get to any of you and there were only 5 seconds left to go. We had enough eggs and tons of enemies were swarming to me, so I quickly shot the wall, crawled up on it, jumped out the window and 2 seconds later round 3 was completed.
That last one was a bit harder though. I was pretty much on an island, couldn't get away and suddenly realised I was the only one alive.
So instead of trying to fight my way out which was impossible, I turned around and saw I could just barely snipe you back alive.
Sadly, the map was already overrun with everything they could throw at us, so it didn't help much, but that moment seemed to happen in slow motion over here and was one of those rare "aha" moments where things click and you don't just shoot at everything that moves.
