@Fafounet Yeah, definitely - that's the dilemma I'm having with the NES Classic; It looks great - and most of the games truly are 'classics' ..but we're likely to get most (if not all) of those games 'free' with the Online Service (with added online features, no less) - and considering that the SNES Classic's controllers only just stretch to my sofa, the NES version having cords half-the-length could be a bit of an issue - all-in-all, I'm leaning towards just taking whatever treats we're offered with Switch Online (..unless, perhaps, I find ยฃ50 down the back of the sofa, or in an old pair of jeans - then I could be tempted to treat myself! )
EDIT: @Lroy Nice! I'll pop in in a couple of mins!
@NaviAndMii I have a SNES mini and picked up some cable extenders when they were a few pounds on Amazon. Work a treat. I missed out on the nes mini before so I'll be getting to pick one up I think. It is in part a collector thing though.
Dammit! Got disconnected on the last round! ..who won out of @mauhlin12 and @Fafounet? ..neck and neck right to the end!
That one had to be my last, unfortunately - had a great time again! Thanks everyone - and special thanks to @Lroy for hosting! So many close races and crazy battles this evening! Great fun!
@mauhlin12 Oh nice! Multiple winners this evening - and I think that pretty much everyone had the crown on their head at one point or another! Really fun session!
Gotta love red shells. And blue shells. Spammed them aplenty in our last match onto @mauhlin12 but that did not prevented him to secure the championship!
GG everyone. Loads of drama and fun as usual.
Finally I get my fair share of gaming.
Praise the Switch!

I also own the mini NES & SNES. Regarding the short cords, I own wireless pads from 8bit do and they work great. They make both an NES & SNES copy. There is no noticeable lag. I also got wire extensions for the included pad and those usually give you another 3-4 feet of cord, so thatโs an option as well.
You can also buy cords that will hook up your original NES & SNES pads from back in the day and those work well too. I collect Nintendo stuff (I also own the mini famicom), so I bought them mostly as collectors items, but they work brilliantly as well. Iโve gone back and beaten Simonโs Quest, Metroid and played a ton of SMB on the Mini NES and they work as you remember them. Iโve played the MINI SNES less, but it works brilliantly. In the end though, you are getting them for their form factor the most as you can clearly get these games elsewhere.
You can find the wireless controllers or the aforementioned cords on Amazon & other websites. If you need any tips on which brand, let me know.

I've got a SNES mini and a couple of cheap extension cords off Ebay solved any problems. As @NaviAndMii says, here's just something about playing with the original pad on hardware that looks like the original that makes all the difference. I've also used that Pad (and the extension leads) to play emulated SNES on Wii U and it adds to the authenticity there as well.
