Just a quick question about Importing, if I download a game off the JP e-shop like Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, when the game comes out in may will I receive the Western version of the game if I play it on my US account?
While most games will have a single release that supports multiple languages, there are some games that are issued separate versions for different territories, usually as Western and Eastern releases, where the Western release will contain English as well as other European languages (and/or Russian) whereas the Eastern version will contain Japanese and/or English and/or Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
A few examples of where games have had separate releases including Mario + Rabbids, Splatoon 2, Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors. Such games, fortunately, are in the minority.
The easiest way to identify whether a game has been issued a separate Eastern release is to check the eShop page and see whether the game includes Japanese. If not, they will have a version different to the Western release.
Stay safe, kids: Make sure to save frequently during multiplayer, and always use a stylus!
Unless it says Region Free a JPN will be JPN. One should wait til after the Physical version of Hyrule Warriors is released to be sure. There is no buyers remorse on eShop games.
On the e-shop look for 英語 This means it supports English. If you cannot find that, it doesn't and likely wont get patched to. You can still play it of course, but it will be Japanese.
