Looks really slow paced, dull, and empty. Yoshi looks super slow and plodding and there's minimal action or enemies (even by Yoshi standards). This looks like Baby's First Yoshi game, not excited.
The past few games have drawn me in due to the art style so I am more curious about that. Looks straight forward so far.

@FishyS I did want a storybook Yoshi game, but this isn't the direction I'd go in, this looks like Yoshimon with no action or adventure. I would've liked something closer to Woolly/Crafted World where the game mechanics/level gimmicks play more on the storybook theme. Like using Yoshi's tongue to pull open pull tabs that cause platforms to pop out like a pop up book for example. I suppose that's still technically possible, but it doesn't look like that's where they're going with this and they just want it to be a casual puzzle platformer for pre-schoolers or something.
Highlight of the direct for me. I am looking forward to it!
Yoshi's Story is my fav Yoshi game and one of my fav N64 games. I still play it over and over on NSO. It is a calming game.

I believe it's exclusive to the Switch 2, isn't it?
I'm looking forward to this new entry. I hope that Good-Feel is behind it (and that they use the Woolly World composer(s), not the Crafted World one(s)). Woolly World was definitely more true to Yoshi's Island, but I 100%-ed Crafted World, which I don't do for many games these days.

I guess I'll just say: I'm glad that you love Yoshi's Story and I wish that I could also love it.
I adored how it looked, hope its a good one. At someone who merely liked Wooly World, and thought 100% levels was kind of a slog despite rarely taking any longer to do than in Island and in general it didn't reach its full potential beyond aesthetics, I'm slightly worried Island will be like Star Fox 64 where I'm just never gonna get a true, remotely worthy follow up.
I'm not expecting anything as amazing as Island anymore, but I do hope I at least enjoy it more than the other Yoshi games. (also didn't help that after going back to it I merely like instead of love Story too)
But it does look incredibly charming, honestly in some ways more than the previous two games.

I feel like most Yoshi games are a bit of a slog to 100%, including island with its annoying stars which immediately bounce into pits. For me, they're usually pretty fun to 90 or 95% but sometimes doing the rest sucks the joy out of it.

There's some truth to that, but I think most levels are fun to 100% in Island, particularly after multiple playthroughs in which I haven't done that before (still haven't for the 2nd half of the worlds), in a way I didn't feel for most levels past the first like...world and a half of Wooly World.
If I heard people say they far preferred it on 2nd or 3rd playthroughs it might convince me to replay it at some point, because that would be a huge difference maker to me tbh. (see also: not trying to do the bonus levels as much in Tropical Freeze, I regret that)
@N00BiSH
I think it’s the opposite: they know exactly what they want to do with Yoshi, and they’ve been actively doing it: it’s an easier line of platformers made for younger gamers or just for those seeking a more relaxed platformer. That’s been the trend for the last few entries. Some would even argue for pretty much every entry after the first one.
The “problem” only arises when we want the new games to be just like the original game lol And it ain’t gonna happen.
