Topic: Well are you going to buy one at launch?

@NeonPizza I here ya. I have been firing up the Analogue Super NT alot more playing stuff like Super Castlevania, Secret of Mana and even Zelda A Link to the Past. I just recently found a DS Lite so I have also been rocking games like Elite Beat Agents, Tetris DS and even Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. I played my Series X to but most of that was Diablo 3, and retro compilations like Midway Origins for some Smash TV and Rampage.

The only new game that I have been playing is Avowed which plays like a better Skyrim. Even with my laptop I have been playing older games like Heroes of Might and Magic 3, and even The Sims 2.

I guess I am just at the point where newer games just don't do much for me any more. The next one I am looking forward to is Doom Dark Ages.

3 preorders locked and loaded from Walmart, BestBuy and Target. Canceled the 4th from Amazon UK since I won't need to import now.

The other 2 backups will be canceled once I know for sure one is coming through.

Managed to preorder one through Walmart. Was only the standard version, but paying $30 more for Mario Kart isn't the end of the world. I had a chance to get the bundle, but of course Walmart was having issues and wouldn't let me preorder it, and booted me "back in line" before the 10 minutes was up. Just glad I was able to get one at all.

I think i got screwed. I was sitting there staring at the Walmart website at 11:45 and tried to buy one right at midnight and it already said the item in my cart is sold out. 😡

Even checked best buy and it just sits there loading saying I'm in line but nothing happens. I guess I'm out of luck. I give up.

Oh yeah guys don't be stupid looking on ebay either. Jerks are selling pictures of a switch 2 no actual console for the full switch price. WTF?

I had to fight my way through Best-buy but I finally got my pre-order. The experience was genuinely smooth too. I should be in the clear assuming they don't just cancel on me in the next few days.

@Truegamer79 GameStop online preorders start at 11:00 AM EST, so there's still a chance to get one. In-store preorders start as soon as the store opens.

I was waiting in line at best buy and finally got the verification code sent to my phone. Then i went to check out and bam confirmed the order! I was surprised to find it charged me the full amount immediately which isn't what i thought would happen. I assumed that wouldn't be until it was shipped but whatever.

What's weird is the pro controller, camera and AC adapter was available but extra joycon 2 and charge grip never went up for preorder.

So I grabbed those 3 (need extra charger for handheld mode) and got the joycon 2 and charge grip from an Amazon UK import preorder. Already got my 1TB microSD Express and preordered Genki tempered glass with auto-alignment auto-apply kit.

And... that's a wrap! I'll take the stock charge grip apart so it's just the middle slab to fit in a case, as I'll be using the charge grip anyways.

@-Green- Best Buy always charges full amount for online/app preorders. I have been using them for years. Just bought most of the amiibo before their site stopped sending codes. Paid in full.

@JaxonH What brand did you go for, re 1TB MicroSD Express card? Currently I own ... 0 'express' and want to invest in minimum 512 - - > but ideally 1TB

Nintendo are warning Japanese fans that registrations and preorders have "exceeded expectations" and that there might not be enough consoles at launch.

Scalpers are about to have a field day.

Ahh replay value, the giant elephant in the room, I think in a story based game it's an extremely difficult one unless the joy of just doing something in the game is so much fun in it's self, to some extent Botw & Totk had you covered here as it was and still is so much of a pleasure simply moving about in Hyrule, building, breaking, fighting and blasting everything you can see whilst uncovering the story becomes almost secondary. Nintendo will have to work very hard to bring back the same sense of delight that those games have given me.
Do I think that the new Switch 2 games I've bought (MKW and Donkey Kong Bananza) will have the same pull for replay for me.. sadly no I don't, not once the novelty has worn off anyway even more so as I'm not a multiplayer gamer. I'm glad we've got them but just can't see myself revisiting/replaying them that often if at all once I've seen everything the games have to offer.

Currently, Lexar is the only brand (aside from Gamestop branded mSD Express) offering 512GB and 1TB sizes. Makes you wonder if Gamestop's cards are manufactured by the same company since nobody else offers them. Should've grabbed one of those when 1TB went up for $150. Now they're $190.

If you can't source one in your country Amazon US occasionally comes in and out of stock.

Did some soul searching, made the call to go all-digital for Switch2… so a 1TB should allow me a great deal of flexibility in terms of having majority of library for play 👍

At this point I don’t think I could get it at launch whether I wanted to or not…

@NeonPizza @Dhaladog Replay value is an interesting subject. For me it's how much I enjoyed the game but even then it's usually years before I replay a game once I finish the main game and DLC. For example I have just started replaying Diablo III's campaign since it recently came to Game Pass on the Xbox. Last time I played it was when it first came out like 12 years ago. I do remember bits and pieces of the story and I am sure it will come back to me but it's just sort of comfort food to me. Just enjoying a game I enjoyed. Then there are games I will admit I do replay yearly, Castlevania games on Halloween mainly but that goes with more the memories and traditions then anything else.

Then there's also trophies, achievements or whatever you want to call them. I very very rarely go back and play a game to get them. Once I finish a story that's it I am done with it. Maybe next time I play it again then I will go back and get achievements I missed.

Even mupltiplayer games like Mario Kart, or Call of Duty that have unlockable parts, or cosmetics or whatever I don't replay much. I may go on a run where I am trying to unlock everything but after awhile I get tired of the same stuff over and over and stop playing.

Werid thing is with me though I have tons and tons of games ranging from NES to PS2 to Wii U to Xbox and more that I keep because I know once I do get rid of them I know I am going to want to replay them lol. Make sense of that if you can.

@Truegamer79 That's also has to be with tax for the actual price where your at. They place hold and then later release the hold charge back until day of June 5 before to make the charge.

Welp I am officially in at launch. Just paid for mine. Can’t open it till after I move though as I am slowly tossing everything into storage.

Considering I didn't manage to get a pre-order in during the brief window and Nintendo changed their pre-order date from 'May 8' to 'maybe eventually after the Switch 2 launches' it is looking significantly less likely I will get one at launch 😝

Ouch, what's the point of a pre-order when you won't get it at launch? I hope they compensate with a free version of Welcome Tour. But knowing them they probably give you some stickers worth 1-2 bucks if anything at all...
