Saw the leak of the Switch 2 Lite today. Personally, I'm disappointed it's not the OLED first. But considering rising production costs...I'm not surprised. Guess I'll be waiting much much longer for a Switch 2 OLED then.
How does everyone else feel about Switch 2 Lite?
It's a hard pass for me because Switch analog sticks are awful, obviously.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,544 games (as of February 24th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
It is far too early for a Switch 2 Lite. For one, I doubt they would have the battery life sorted already. For another, it took roughly 2 and half years after the Switch was released for the Switch Lite to launch, so a Switch 2 Lite this early would be strange.
Besides, nothing of the leak indicated it was a Lite. Furthermore, all the different major Switch models had similar codes, whereas BEE has nothing in common with OSM.

That's the natural iterations for Switch2 to have a Switch2 Lite.....with matching power but smaller package and no TV out Docks for a less expensive alternative. With one knowing there is NO TV output....as the big sticker...
To be clear, the "leak" is just a product code that someone has found. Product code as in the three letters you see written on all of Nintendo's stuff that changes depending on the device. eg Switch 2 is BEE, Switch is HAC, Switch Lite is HDH, Switch OLED is HEG. If you go back further DS was NTR, GC was DOL, Gameboy was DMG etc, etc
The only reason people are jumping to the conclusion that it might be a "Switch 2 Lite" is because the placeholder image for that code is a Switch 2. Which might mean nothing. Because it's worth noting that stuff like the Pokemon Mini (MIN), Amiibo (NVL), Nintendo Classic Mini (CLV), Switch Dev Kit (HAT), Pokemon Go Accessories (PMC) and Alarmo (CLO) also had unique product codes

There is zero chance its a Switch 2 Lite. The necessary tech to make it work at a valid price point does not exist, and might not ever exist during the expected life of the Switch 2.
@metaphysician
I think you're being a bit dramatic in saying that it might not ever exist. It seems very likely that it will exist, there's plenty of scope for them to shrink the Switch 2's SoC gaining some power efficiency. And while the RAM situation is a bit nuts currently it's not the first and it certainly won't be the last component shortage. Even if this time the shortage is driven by what I think most of us would agree is a bit of a silly, manufactured, demand side bubble
It seems likely to me that in a couple of years there'll be a revision. 2028, maybe later 2027. It's what they've done with literally every portable since the Gameboy. Technology improves and they release a version that's more power efficient or takes advantage of some advance in tech in some way or another. I wouldn't bet against it
...... but I don't think that's what this leaked product is

If it comes in a price that is affordable then sure let the Switch2 Lite come to markets. But with Switch2 still selling and they have to keep up with production it might be at least 2 years before we see it until they can get enough Switch2 out before Lite comes around. OLED Switch2 won't be here anytime soon we are probably looking at 2028 before we hear anything about OLED. OLED will cost more then Switch2 itself. So they aren't in a rush to push OLED out. Probably got OLED in R&D but a OLED Switch2 above 500+usd will not sell or if they do it will be one OLED Switch2 in a family of 4 if they can afford it in the economy the way it is right now. So people have to be realistic OLED Switch2 will price most General Consumer out in these times and those are the buyers Nintendo wants to keep buying Switch2 otherwise it won't look good.
If there's a new console version in the horizon then give me a homeconsole switch 2. Take the switch out of it. I don't need the portability. Could save 200 hundred euros that way. 😅
I'd think it an inevitability that there will eventually be a cost-reduced and more power efficient version of the Switch 2.
The big question would be when, and Nintendo would presumably need to wait for the cost of certain components to come down, which definitely isn't happening any time in the next six months to a year. Ideally they'll also time it for when Switch 1 production winds down, so that the new hardware can replace it at the bottom end of the market, and preferably there will also be a Switch 2 exclusive Pokemon game in the offing, to give it a jump start.
On the whole, I'd think that that puts it at early-2027 at the soonest. Still, it could be a while later, depending upon how the other variables pan out.
@rallydefault I mean, I've seen this happen with the switch. The whole Switch Pro thing that went on for multiple years with people promising that it was going to happen "next year" for three or four years straight. Can't blame me for being tired of it- especially when something like it is starting up yet again when this console is barely a year old.

I'm not sure why people seem to get worked up when other people are having fun speculating. There's a new line or SKU or something from Nintendo in development that's probably coming out relatively soon. Fact, confirmed. But we have no information on it other than three letters
So the people who enjoy speculating about this kind of thing be speculating. And the general view is that this seems too soon for a different Switch 2 SKU, and there's not much to say it's a different Switch SKU either. So maybe these assumptions are wrong, maybe it's something else. None of this makes much sense and wild speculation is fair game. And that's fun
But if you think it's not fun? Cool. But stating your lack of interest adds nothing to the discussion. So maybe just, don't post?
