A week later, I've carved out more progress on Switch 2. I'm at the scene shown in one of the pre-release trailers where Victor shouts "GRAAAAAAACE"
This game plays extremely well in handheld. It's a bit of a shame the frame rate drops when a few zombies are on screen. It's probably not that low, but you feel it go from 60 to say 35-40 pretty quickly. Not ideal when you're trying to line up a shot with the requiem but it's manageable to work around.
I'm still very impressed this game runs this well and looks this good. I played for about 30mns, my battery went from 86% to around 60% and it never felt like I was playing a inferior game.
I'm curious to go back to my PC save file, just to get through this Leon segment (generators) I am in and I sincerely hope it picks up after. I also have a massive itch / craving to play Resident Evil Village. RE is rotting my brain...
@Hwatt I've been playing through RE8 after beating 7 then 9, almost entirely in handheld, and it plays great. I've read some reviews knocking the performance in 8, but it's been pretty fantastic to my untrained eyes. I'm really enjoying 8, a lot. It's just a fun action game, with interesting environments and cool boss fights. RE 9 is better, but 8 is fantastic at what it does.
When playing handheld, I've noticed the worst framerates happen at the lounge area of the care center, for whatever reason.
Perhaps that piano is super detailed or something.
The parlour bar is also very taxing. Maybe all the geometry, reflections, and light bounces all on all the items is just too much. Both locations have a bar so could be the source of system torture

Nice! I only have it on PC and I have surprisingly only beat it once. My run was 13hrs according to my save file and 3 hours for the DLC. Steam says I almost 60 hours in the game. Why? Mercenaries mode. I absolutely love RE8’s mercenary mode. Chaining combos and fine tuning runs are super fun. The DLC also added new characters which I assume are available on Switch 2 as well. Give it a go when you can! I am only missing SSS rank on 2 out of the 8 levels
