Can anyone claiming that Switch production/sales are ending please provide a source for that information. Preferably make it a reputable media outlet too, not just some random person on Reddit.
As an example, here's a link to the financial report where Nintendo state, on page 17, that Switch 1 sales "will continue if enough demand persists":
@Tay32111 I mean, even games you buy on wii can still be downloaded even now so I don't see why it's going to be an issue, maybe after you die, but by then I think we'll have a more pressing issue then...
Pokopia is part of Pokemon stuff, and it's published by the pokemon company in Japan. So that might be why it ends up like this.
And Pokemon, while exclusive to Nintendo consoles/handhelds, are kinda owned by TPC, which is a company that is owned by Creatures, Game Freak and Nintendo so it's really complicated situation.
@Tay32111 They have stated this from the start, and they haven't changed it from the start, so who knows when lol. Like, I'm going to ask... are you going to still download your wii games now?
Or even wii u and 3ds?
I personally don't even touch my 3ds anymore after Switch, despite having installed custom firmware on it. So in the end there's no use in like, "oh ***** it will not be supported anymore in 20 years". The better question is "are you going to still play it in 20 years?"
Think on how you use it, not what the online community thinks, imo. Like is gamekey card very vexing if you aren't going to uninstall it? Like how does it differ that much, compared to when games download extra 20GB because there's only 4GB of data in the cartridge?
Iirc it's not Nintendo published in Japan and that might be why it's key card? who knows.
I believe all Pokemon games are published by the Pokemon Company in Japan and generally by Nintendo outside of Japan. Since Nintendo directly owns a third of the Pokemon Company and also owns part of one of the other companies that owns the Pokemon Company... it's close enough to Nintendo.
I'm guessing the fact that it is a game key card is because the game is a spinoff made by Koei Tecmo. I am assuming gen X Pokemon will not be a game key card although I suppose we'll have to wait and see. It is a little weird they simultaneously are saying 'spinoff so they can be flexible about the physical format' but also 'major first party game so it is $70'. Although I doubt many fans of cozy Pokemon spinoff games actually care that much about physical versus digital.
@FishyS Yeah... I did see quite a lot of people going "well, then I won't buy it" or "yayy now I don't need to buy switch 2" etc.
We'll see how it ends up in the end I guess. We will have a new trailer at 13th november as well, which feels weird because why open preorders before the trailer lol.
@darkfenrir People might buy a Switch 2 for a mainline Pokemon game or new animal crossing but I kinda doubt many would just for this random combination spinoff 😆I am guessing anyone who said that is being disengenuous and probably most of them wouldn't have bought the game regardless.
@FishyS That is really true! I think most of the grumbles are really just the same GKC kerfuffle, and the fact we really don't have much information.
We only know it has time stuff, you can do minecrafty things, and then have fun with fellow pokemon. Which isn't much considering everything, but if it's pretty close to DQB2...
(like, hoping it will have story + cozy animal crossing vibe and that will be enough for me I think)
in my place, some nsw1 game cards are resold by players at pretty good prices. should i buy them to play on nsw2? if i buy, is there anything to keep in mind?
@linhhonlangdu No issue playing most switch 1 games in switch 2 yeah, just check up on compatibility or whether people complained about it or not on reddit or somesuch.
On what to keep in mind, maybe just check if the gold pins are fine and such? Probably best to test the cartridge fast though
There is a possibility when buying second hand cartridges that someone has dumped them and is sharing copies around the internet, in which case Nintendo will give you an online ban for using them!
These have been rescinded when proof of ownership has been demonstrated at least, although I'm not sure if the next person to purchase them won't receive the same treatment.
@metaphysician Nintendo did confirm they are ending production of the switch 1.
You can watch YouTube videos.
I have seen some YouTube videos claim without evidence that Nintendo is probably stopping Switch 1 production soon. On the other hand, Nintendo told investors a few weeks ago that they would keep Switch 1 going as long as there is still demand. If there was some other statement by Nintendo that we all missed, I would be interested to see the link.
points up As FishyS pointed out, "some youtube video said" is not proof. An actual public statement or interview from Nintendo, that would be proof. J Random Youtuber can say whatever they want without any duty to distinguish fact from speculation, or even to just not flagrantly lie.
