Does anyone know if Nintendo fixed the issue with the Switch 2 where the back cover bolgue out?
There were reports from back around when the Switch 2 was released where they discovered that their brand new (out of the box) Switch 2 consoles were bolguging due to the lithium ion batteries swollen.
Nintendo did came out (not officially) saying that they are aware of this and investigating them.
They did also mention that whoever has the issue to return them for an exchange or refund.
But I dont know if they ever fixed this issue yet.
Has anyone heard anything about Nintendo fixing this issue?
@Tay32111 If I recall it was quite rare. Since it can happen with this type of battery in any similar device I think it is less an issue of 'fix' and more of an issue of needing slightly better quality assurance. I assume Nintendo improved their process if they think it is common enough to matter but I doubt they would make an announcement about it.
I been wanting to get the Switch 2 since Launch but I was afraid that issue could cause an issue.
I have a animal crossing Nintendo Switch console that I brought brand new in 2021 and I had it plugged in the dock ever since and the battery hasn't swollen yet and the console plays just fine.
So im hoping that when I do get a Switch 2 it won't be a problem
Also worth considering is whether the problem actually was happening "disproportionately often". All electronics have defect and failure rates, after all. Without rigorous information, its essentially impossible to tell "Switch has a higher battery failure rate than expected" from "Switch battery failures are more loudly reported in circles that J Random Game Consumer notices". You hear about the 1% failure rate battery problems in Switches because you follow video game news and battery failures are at least somewhat newsworthy; you don't hear about the 1% failure rate battery problems in iPhones, because you don't use an iPhone and don't frequent their forums and media circles. Etc.
@Tay32111 I love my Switch 2. I did have a couple issues with the power connection to the dock early on (not the battery, just the connection sometimes failing). However the issue hasn't happened in months so I think an automatic firmware update must have fixed it. I bought the console the first week so it's inevitable that minor bugs were a bit more common at the time.
The Joycons are nice enough and I have had no issues but I prefer the Switch 2 Pro Controller which is simply amazing.
@FishyS I read articles where a user had his/her Switch 2 console banned by using a Second Hand Game, which they contacted Nintendo and provided proof that the game card was purchased from Facebook market place, and Nintendo reversed the ban, allowing them to use it again.
Do you have any "Nintendo Switch 1" Games that you are playing on the "Switch 2"?
If so, did you get banned by Nintendo by using the "Switch 1 Games" onto the Switch 2 console?
I really want to get the Switch 2 (especially for Mario Kart World"
But I'm scared that I will get banned by Nintendo.
Of course I am never planning on "modding" the console, so i shouldn't have any problems with the Switch 2 console.
@FishyS do you play "Switch 1" Physical Games on the Switch 2 console?
If so did your console got banned by Nintendo?
I heard a report by someone stating that they their Switch 2 console permanently banned by Nintendo by playing a game they brought from Facebook.
They stated that they contacted Nintendo and gave proof that they were innocent and Nintendo reversed the Ban and allowed them to continue to use their Switch 2 console.
I just hope that I don't get banned by using my Game Cards that was from my current Switch 1.

If you haven't bought any hacked or boot legged physical games, you won't have issues. Legitimate Switch 1 games work fine on Switch 2. And on the very rare chance that you accidentally buy a used game which was modified, it sounds like Nintendo will fix your account if you call them so I have no real concern.
A few Switch 1 games simply don't run on Switch 2 but those won't cause harm, they simply won't start.
@Tay32111
I've played dozens and dozens of physical Switch 1 games on my Switch 2, almost all of them I bought used, and I haven't had a problem yet with being banned or something like that. I've bought these games used from all sorts of places: eBay, Gamestop, local game stores, huge game shows, etc.
@Tay32111 No other issues. If issues were even slightly common there would be news articles complaining about them every day đ
The console battery lasts a few hours undocked; maybe less for high powered games. Not that different than the original Switch; maybe a tiny shorter.
Not sure about the pro controller â many many days. Google claims it lasts 40 hours of actual gameplay which I would believe since I rarely recharge mine. I tend to use the joycon 2s attached so I don't know how long they last separately. Probably about the same as Switch joycons.
I have been waiting to get the Switch 2 so the "defective" consoles that was the "first consoles in production" would be sold to others.
I had a lot of issues with my 2017 switch (brought in 2018) and I sent it to Nintendo several times for repairs but they kept sending it back in wrose condition.
From what Iâve seen, Nintendo hasnât officially âfixedâ the swelling issueâprobably because itâs more of a manufacturing/battery defect than something they can patch. Their advice has mostly been to return affected units for a replacement or refund. I havenât seen any news suggesting that new batches of Switch 2s are completely free from it, but it seems pretty rare now.
