I was going to comment on the @Bolt_Strike narrative, but @JaxonH said it better than I could have!
In no way, shape, or form are these rumors a bad thing. They are also just that, rumors. Sure, they are likely accurate given Nate's track record - but I'm holding out anything but hype until I hear/see more.
Of all the Zelda games, I believe that OOT and Majora's mask benefit the most from a remake. While I would love the FF7 treatment (reimagine the game, keep it similar but flesh it out a bit more - make Hyrule Castle/city HUGE) - the thought of replaying the game with better camera controls is huge. I cannot wait for the opening title screen in a glorious, orchestral arrangement. Heck - just update the music and controls/camera - we're looking at a winner.
I've learned with Zelda to hold off on what I hope for, because Nintendo proves time and time again, that they make Zelda games better than anything I could hope for.
But, yeah, I just don't see how anyone can see this in a negative light... we have so many amazing 3rd party games that are out/coming out, plus a wide variety of 1st party games (many I'm not interested in, but that doesn't matter) - there's seemingly something for everyone.
With the games that we know about, I don't know how I would have time to play through everything I want plus a new Mario game this year. And giving the Mario team time to make what they want - their track record is one of almost perfection.
Last thought - there are likely many games planned that we have no idea about, in 2026. There will be many surprises throughout the year, and I cannot wait to see what's coming. While I think it is a mistake to not have a direct until June, it's a minor speedbump in the big picture of the console's life. And with the MASSIVE PS5 price hikes, I do not see the SW2 slowing down any time soon.
Read all of the comments that happened while I was busy at work, here are my thoughts:
Those leaks sound pretty intriguing, especially the OOT remake. Though I'm really hoping that they don't change too much of the original game in the process. You know me: I prefer my media to be as close to the source material as possible, and if it is changed too much, I prefer to skip it, especially if the content of the story or dialogue is made tamer.
Also, about Nintendo "not being as family friendly"... what? 💀 Nintendo itself still makes a butt ton of family friendly games. Over time, they've just started allowing a lot more content in third party games on their platform, which is an awesome thing. I like having a variety of content to pick from, so that even though not everything may appeal to me, there are plenty of things that I am interested in, and the things that I'm not interested in, I accept that other people are interested in them. That's why I'm not an advocate for the removal of "shovelware" from the eShop. Another example is the aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077. From what I have heard, it's not my cup of tea and that's okay. There are plenty of other games I can play instead thanks to Nintendo's more open content selection nowadays, especially third party wise. And I have seen that there are plenty of people who do like the game, and that is enough reason for it to exist on the Switch 2. It even has a complete on the cart physical release on Switch 2, which I really appreciate as someone who is really into physical media. The one thing that I think is kind of stupid is the fact that Nintendo of America did allow Cyberpunk 2077 on their platform, but just half a year before, they didn't allow the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth Trilogy on their platform, even though it has way less s*xual content in it, if you get what I mean. Like seriously, if you want to impose more strict content guidelines, at least be consistent. I probably need to stop typing before this turns into another one of my signature "NOA and Neptunia rants" 😅
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
@Nep-Nep-Freak you quote "shovelware" as if people are talking about normal games. no, they're talking about asset flips with ai art and sometimes hentai puzzle games that aren't even hentai adjacent it's just regular clothed women with big boobs
maybe some decent games get labelled shovelware but i doubt there's many.
remember; your chicken parm is not safe around me!
