@kkslider5552000 Star Fox has always been shorter experiences, so I think that would be totally appropriate for a $40 game. Though I don't ever see Nintendo dropping below $50.
How's Mario Kart World doing? You still playing? How's the online playerbase doing? How's the competitive play compared to 8?
I still play Mario Kart World quite regularly, and I think it remains quite fun. I've never had trouble getting into a (mostly) full online lobby. Personally, I prefer the competitive play compared to 8 because I just feel like its generally more strategic and technical, especially with regards to parkour, though I am aware that this is a divisive matter and many people do dislike World's online scene.

Honestly, I feel like Nintendo has really fallen off the family-friendly wagon this generation, starting with Cyberpunk. They used to prioritize the family, but now it feels like they are targeting more of the 20-29 crowd. What do y'all think?
You are aware that Cyberpunk isn't developed or published by Nintendo, right? It's not even like allowing mature 3rd-parties on the platform is anything new; they've done that for a while. The key demographic of Nintendo's own 1st-party output remains the same as always: all-ages.

So Nate the Hate says no 3D Mario until 2027. As I kept telling people.
Also says an Ocarine of Time remake is coming this year. I predicted this months ago, but became less convinced as people like AndresRestart began to peddle videos on it- not based on any leak but mere speculation. And typically whatever he predicts, the opposite happens, so I figured there went any hope of that lol... But apparently it is happening!
But he also says a new, classic Star Fox IS coming to Switch 2 this summer! So I was dead wrong on that. But I've never been so happy to be wrong- this is hype!

Every company has its strengths and weaknesses. Nintendo's strength is games that appeal to all ages. As a platform manufacturer, they rely on 3rd parties to complement their strengths by shoring up their weaknesses, releasing the types of games Nintendo simply isn't good at making, nor has any interest in making.
It works out well for them because the games Nintendo makes, nobody is on their level or able to create competitive games in those genres anywhere near as good. Whereas with Sony/MS, the types of 1st party they make, while good, are not on another level to the extent 3rd parties can't make similar games just as good if not better.
This is why Switch 2 is in such a strong position. No 3rd party makes game like Splatoon, or Zelda, or Mario, or Pikmin, or Fire Emblem, or Metroid (well, that's not entirely true- Prince of Persia Lost Crown and both Ori games are on the level of Metroid Dread, but even so such games are quite rare- most 3rd party metroidvanias are lower budget and not as good), or Mario Kart (sorry Sonic Crossworlds, but not even close- good game, but no), or Smash Bros (remember PS All-Stars lol? ya...), or Donkey Kong (be it Country or Bonanza), or Pokemon, etc etc etc.
NateTheHate rumor is pretty much awful news all around if true. Everything the Switch 2 needs seems to be pushed to 2026 or later and what they're actually pushing... yeah this isn't going to do the trick as far as getting the Switch 2 the ambitious, popular experiences it needs to sell and keep people entertained. No Winds/Waves, no 3D Mario, and potentially no Luigi's Mansion 4 (I saw @Nintoz say this in the comments but it's not clear, we need clarification on what Nate said on this game and I don't have the time to sit through the podcast and see for myself) in 2026 is a major miss and a worst case scenario I didn't even think was possible. 3D Mario in particular is a crushing disappointment and a terrible break in precedent, it makes an entire freaking decade since the last new, original 3D Mario and the first time that a Nintendo console has not had an original, flagship Mario title by the second holiday season. But overall, every kind of game that the Switch 2 needs just keeps getting methodically ruled out and pushed further and further out. These are the kinds of games a new console needs in Years 1-3, not Years 3-5, and it practically feels like Nintendo should've held the Switch 2 until 2026/2027 if they knew the lineup was going to pan out this way (if they didn't know I can't fault them for 2025, that was the next best choice, but otherwise a major miss to have all of these major games this lacking early in the Switch 2's lifespan).
Then there's the games they're actually doing. I mentioned that Star Fox did have the opportunity to revive itself. But I only think that's possible with a Star Link style open space game. The Star Fox game Nate actually is rumoring is clearly not that with it being a "classic style" game. Traditional on-rails shooters are just too niche a genre and this is probably not selling more than 2 million or so. Wrong direction for the series IMO and I don't see this getting Star Fox out of basement.
And then there's the OoT remake. Nate didn't mention anything specifically wrong with this game, but in the absence of more information on what nature of remake it is, I'm not getting my hopes up because Nintendo's track record with remakes is not good. Most Nintendo remakes are basically just graphical improvements and it's the same freaking experience as the original when there's actual gameplay, design, and content issues that have potentially aged like milk (and that's certainly the case for OoT). OoT needs more of a FFVII-style reimagining and at best it's probably just going to be more of a Metroid Prime Remastered style recreate this game pixel-by-pixel to be exactly the same (if even that, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a DKCR style upres of the 3DS remake), Nintendo largely doesn't seem to like doing reimagining style remakes (with the exception of some of the older Pokemon remakes like HGSS and ORAS, and the 2D Metroid remakes). OoT is great, but if that's the big holiday title? Yeah major oof there. I mean it'll probably still sell better than everything else this year aside from Pokopia and maybe Splatoon Raiders, but it's not the big, new experience the Switch 2 needs.
So yeah, almost all bad news all around here. The "no games" narrative for Switch 2 is still alive and well, and Nintendo CLEARLY losing the war against increasing dev times as all of the games the Switch 2 desperately needs are clearing out of 2026 one by one. At least 2027 is looking peak with it seemingly having both Winds/Waves and 3D Mario, but for us to have to wait until Year 3 for this console to truly get off the ground is pretty sluggish momentum. The decision to make the Switch 2 a performance focused console continues to look like a worse and worse idea.

And the winner ... of the The Game Awards 2025 Best Family Game is ... Don't act like you don't know 😝
If the Nate rumour is true it further tells me that the focus of Switch 2 in 2026 is 3rd party support which is a good thing, especially with those insane PS5 price hikes. More people will be able to treat Switch 2 as an "everything" platform.

If Pokemon gen 10 and 3D mario are both 2027, 2027 will potentially be a very solid year.
As for Fall 2026? It's possible OoT will be enough of an amazing remake to be a big holiday game, although I am not convinced it will be. Either way they should have another big Autumn game and I have no clue what it would be.

Again, poor strategy as third parties tend not to sell nearly as well as first parties on Nintendo consoles. Even on the Switch 1 which had far better third party support than any console since the GC, the Top 25 selling Switch 1 games were all first party games with not a single third party game cracking that echelon (okay technically Monster Hunter Rise snuck in for a while, but Pokemon Legends Z-A just supplanted it). The Switch 1 sales data speaks volumes as far as what's driving sales, it's primarily new, original games in the super popular IPs. Games like Winds/Waves and 3D Mario are the Switch 2 equivalent to that, so having neither for 2026 is a massive gut punch to the console's prospects.
@Bolt_Strike This was where I came across the LM4 claim, https://www.instagram.com/p/DWZNYTYjEfQ/?igsh=MTVvcjE3eDAwMWI... they're a keen follower of NateTheHate so I can only assume that he said this despite not finding any mention of 'Luigi' 'Mansion' or '4' in the Youtube transcript.
So maybe take this one with a pinch more salt than the others.
@Nintoz Some people last year were ironically saying OoT remake definitely wasn't happening because Nate said he didn't know anything about it. Nate gets some insider information which is only sometimes incorrect, but there is tons of room for games he knows nothing about.
