Topic: Nintendo Switch 2

This message is for mods here, would it be okay to start a dedicated thread for switch 2 hardware and specs? I know we have this thread but it would be nice to have a space the talk about hardware capabilities of the system and game performance.

Split Fusion is gonna be so peak on Switch 2. Grabbed It Takes Two on Switch since it's half off, and overclocking to output docked image in handheld, it looks and plays fantastic in tabletop mode. I had 2 controllers and was switching back and forth since I had nobody to play with. It's so good.

But Split Fiction looks even better. And graphically looks superb. And it has Gameshare. And with GameChat I can play with anyone here, even if they don't own the game, and communicate while playing! It's the small things that are really going to make the difference. I get why some feel voice chat was overhyped but, tbh it's huge. There's a reason people have been clamouring for it on Nintendo platforms for so many years.

I'm not a mod but I see no reason why not. If you think there's enough discussion to warrant it, that is, as opposed to just talking about it here.

I'd just make a thread and go for it.

@JaxonH I think it is and will be over the course of the life of the system.

The mods have been pretty hands-off with threads as long as they aren't near-identical or inappropriate. Whether a particular thread gets used enough to survive long term is of course a different question.

Even this one which Jason made may or may not end up as the 'permanent' general Switch 2 thread.

Has there been some extensive footage of the Switch 2 version of Split Fiction? All I've seen is the 30 second trailer, which didn't show enough gameplay footage to judge how well it runs. I'm interested in buying the game, but I'd be playing it couch co-op style with my partner, so I'm kinda wondering how the split screen performance on the S2 version is gonna be. If it runs well enough on the Switch (something like 30 FPS with no drops) I might get that version, otherwise I guess we'll play it on PC.

@IceClimbers thank you for answer and it makes sense. If it's in August then I expect before PWC that VG participants that own NS2 and moved to it could give us 60 FPS battles instead 30 FPS.
@Novamii I expect PL:Z-A date reveal at last work week of the May aka from 26th to 30st (in 2018 they have started to make Pokémon Conference at the end of May and did it next year at same time too, but they stopped at 2020 most likely due Corona) or sooner, because it looks like this game will release between September & first half of November (probably at one of these 4 dates of October: 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th) and not at usual 1 to 2 weeks before Black Friday like it was for past decade or so. The reason is that PL:Z-A Japanese/Asian primary date is saying Autumn, but all Main Line/Core Games that released at usual date since 2014 (ORAS, SM, USUM, LGPE, SwSh, BDSP, SV) had they primary date saying Winter, so.

I finally got my invitation to preorder Switch 2 directly from My Nintendo Store... I guess they're sending a second round of invitations now in Europe? Given that the price in MNS is over a 100 euros less than what the local retailers here in the Nordic countries are selling the console for, I didn't have to give it a second thought.

So guys how many of you pre ordered switch 2? Got mine preordered from best buy.

I'm a little confused about it though. The website and everything I've searched about it says best buy won't charge until it's shipped but the full amount was already deducted from my charge card. Doesn't that mean it's paid for already?

Hey guys - anybody know if the Switch 2 cartridges will fit into my Switch 1 cartridge case? I'm assuming yes because they're very similar in shape and size, but I can't find anything official.

I use the Rapell cases you can get on Amazon.

I may also just transfer all my Switch 1 carts back to their game cases because I likely won't need them at a moment's notice anymore, now that I think of it lol Save myself 20 bucks buying a new case, I guess.

@Truegamer79 so in the the US at least, Best Buy takes the full amount when preordering online/via the app. There was a difference in store but I haven’t done that in years so I don’t know how it works currently.

@Truegamer79 Got one through BestBuy online but they place a hold for the full amount MSRP and it's been like 7 days for my hold and then when you pickup that is when you make full payment on June 5 when you pickup the Switch 2. BestBuy does that to insure the funds are their and then release after but not sure the timeline and then your funds return. GameStop you pay either full or how much or the 50.00 down-payment for Preorder and then either pay the rest at pickup or if you use payment plans pay it off over time and or come in and pay it slowly off at the GameStop. So you definitely have a choice how to do it with GameStop. So for now, I got two Switch 2 on PreOrder - one from GameStop and one from BestBuy. Hopefully they don't cancel like the stories I've been seeing. But I think those are more related to scalpers acting as buyers with multiple orders at same Online or Retailers and they more or less both got cancelled because of suspicious orders.

Yeah i was charged in full as soon as i preordered. People keep telling me they put a hold on it and charge you when it's shipped but my charges say otherwise. The money in my account is gone so I guess it's paid for then.

@Truegamer79 BestBuy will placed hold and I guess after a week or so release the funds back and hold your PreOrder listing until June 5.

Still confused about the hold thing. They took the money and i checked Best buys website and it says the preorder was placed and they'll ship it June 5th. The order number is there and purchase date like it's been paid for. If June 5th gets here and it tells me insufficient funds like they didn't get their payment I'm gonna be mad.

@Truegamer79 That's what they do. They hold the charge for a week atleast then release the funds. This is a PreOrder hold not actually charge. Your BB account shows just like mine does. If June 5 comes and your funds aren't there they give you a certain amount of time to pay it before they cancel it if that happens so don't let that pass.

Oh so it's like this, they charge you to make sure the money is all there. Then refund it until time to ship after that the payment goes through once it's shipped?

I think i understand now.

@Truegamer79 They basically just put a hold on the money when you first order it, and then wait until the actual release date to charge the card. For my own balancing purposes, I act as if that money is already taken out of my account so that I don't spend it.
