Hi everybody, I hope you're all doing well. I got a Switch 2 carrying case as a birthday present, and I'm trying to decide what microSD Express card I should get before I go on vacation. Should I bite the bullet and get the 256 GB card, or try to save up for a higher capacity card? The Switch 2's internal storage isn't quite enough for all the games I have. I'm thinking of bringing my Switch 2 so I could play stuff like Animal Crossing and Mario Kart World as a way to blow off steam after a long day, and I have a passcode set up for my Switch 2 as a security measure.

If it helps you to know, I looked at my Switch OLED's storage and I did some math. I'm using 62.5 GB in its internal storage, and 225 GB (out of 512) in its SD card. Making up for a total of 287.5 GB used. I also don't play a lot of RPGs, since those tend to be long and are probably huge in terms of game size. Thanks in advance for your help!

@D-Star92 I went with a 256GB card and honestly no regrets. I think this is just a case of asking yourself "how many games will I genuinely play concurrently".... and generally the S2 digital game file sizes aren't that big. I think FF7R is an outlier at quite a large download (100GB? I could be wrong) but games like MKW are like around 25GB.

@CJD87 All right, I think I'll go for a 256 GB card then. That seems to be enough for the kinds of games I like playing, actually. Thanks!

It really depends on what you want to play. Most of the first party games aren't that big so far, with the exception of Age of Imprisonment and Metroid Prime 4, which is also rather large on Switch 1.

If you're wanting to play a lot of third party games though, they can be very large and few of them come on cartridge either.

@D-Star92 I honestly will go with 512, I got a 256 GB and found myself regretting it since it fills up so fast... XD

@Matt_Barber I think I mainly play first-party Nintendo games, but I do have quite a bit of third-party games as well, if that helps. I have some third-party games (mostly on Switch, but also a few on Switch 2) on my eShop wish list, too.

@darkfenrir Oh no, sorry to hear. 512 GB is a safer option for sure, I've actually been considering that as well. After I did the system transfer, that internal storage filled up pretty quickly, lol. Thanks for your help.

@D-Star92 Good luck on whichever one you decide! In US I think you can find the 512GB choices at sub 100 USD much easier XD

Over here I can only find 200 usd ones... and it's just Lexar...
