@UndockedPlayer The GameCube versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 would be nice.
I'm fairly new to Nintendo Classics in general. How often do Nintendo tend to add new games? Is it monthly or just seemingly whenever they feel like it?
They come in hot, initially, with weekly additions to the library.
Then it slows to incremental trickles.
I wish they'd revert to the Virtual Console model: i would MUCH rather pay a premium for a game that I want to own, rather than an annual subscription fee for a collection of games where the quality/appeal is mixed, not to mention not knowing whether forthcoming additions are worth it.
Paying $30.00 for five or six titles is far better value than paying nearly double on a subscription model for titles that I don't value.
As much as I love Smash Ultimate, the Smash and especially Animal Crossing follow ups are not replacements for the Gamecube games. Smash Melee still has the most rock solid amount of content, where basically all of it is worth experiencing and there's a lack of filler (this is mostly true in Brawl, but Brawl has major issues beyond that). I know because I one time literally deleted my save file to do everything again. (and I might do it again one day if it ever comes to NSO). And Nintendo took away a lot of the personality the original AC had.
And just off the top of my head, Nintendo has also still never re-released Kirby Air Ride, the Mario Party games, the Mario sports games, Four Swords Adventure, Wario World, Battalion Wars, Wave Race: Blue Storm, 1080 Avalanche, Double Dash, Doshin the Giant, Custom Robo, Donkey Konga 1/2, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault etc
Of course. Giest was a fun one. Interesting concept. Pretty shoddy in terms of polish.
Chibi Robo alone...I mean maybe it's a cult classic given it's a gazillion dollars on Ebay. But that one was a great game. I actually reviewed it for a site back in the day and the owner looked at me sideways cause I gave an unknown game a 9.
I probably won't play many GC games because been there, done that.
But a week later I played WW again and had fun. Then struggled again the next time. And then had fun again. And now have the bombs and the bigger wallet so a little bit into the game now. I did already ship off my GC controller but am enjoying da game now. Joycons in the grip, tabletop even and last night ...was split joycons. Which was relaxing. I'm getting the touch down for using the joycon sticks. It's difficult for me to barely move the sticks to walk slow.
And playing it made me think I should rebuy the Wii U version of WW. I never played it but actually had it and I started remembering that the HD version also puts the inventory on the Gamepad while I was constantly going into the menus and swapping my items around the 3 hotkeys in the GC version. I have a Wii U in the cabinet.
For how great WW is. How easy on the eyes the graphics are. IT's also a game with a lot of tedious annoyances. I didn't notice them or care about nearly as much back then as today.
WW makes me wish they could make another cel-shaded Zelda. But the poor reception to the graphics likely kills that from ever happening again unfortunately. Very sad.
I do feel like they could make a WW2 though with graphics similar to the Switch Zeldas. It at least had to cross their mind.
@Dev-N just saw this and came to post about it omg u beat me to it!!!

I definitely want to see some of the 007 games on here (particularly Everything Or Nothing), along with Rogue Squadron II + III.
Resident Evil would be nice.
I don't think we will see the Roque Squadron games on it. Those coders did amazing work on the Gamecube getting what seemed like every bit of power out of the console and emulation of those games on other devices is soo slow compared to other Gamecube games. I see no reason why the Switch 2 won't also really struggle to play them at full speed. My crappy Celeron laptop can play Zelda Windwaker at just about full speed but Roque Squadron is incredibly slow. It seems to need about 5-10x the pc performance to get it running at full speed of windwaker for example. I'm guessing they low level accessed the gamecube hardware to max out performance. Those games still look incredible today. If I see them come to Switch 2 I will be super impressed with the Switch 2 performance level. However some less demanding Gamecube games are struggling a bit on Switch 2 so personally I can't see it happening.
@BonzoBanana What GameCube games struggle on Switch 2?
Quite a few have issues, windwaker has frame pacing issues in places and can feel laggy to play but I think all the games so far have had some issues to a greater or lesser extent. Of course I totally accept its early days and this may be improved but it feels like the Switch 2 is not so powerful that it could emulate all Gamecube games without issue.
I want a few games:
Rogue Squadron II
Mario Kart Double Dash
Bomberman
Wave Race
Burnout 2
Battalion Wars
I love Burnout 2 and the original Burnout. Something about their more simplistic gameplay I really like. The later Burnout games were technically more impressive but for some reason preferred the older games. I know it looks like pants compared to the original Xbox version but I also loved Wreckless. It felt more responsive on Gamecube and I really enjoyed it.
That's a shame, I was hoping 1080 Avalanche would appear at some point but didn't realize it had licensed music. Seems about as likely as Donkey Konga appearing at this point then.
Luigi's Mansion for October, surely? But what do people think we will get next?
I think Fire Emblem or Chibi Robot, with leaning closer to Fire Emblem for being a more known name.
I doubt it will be one of the Pokémon games since they could have mentioned it in the Direct. Sunshine would be great, but we just had Strikers, so I think they’ll want to hold off on splurging all their Mario game for now.
Can't wait to play Chibi-Robo, as like Mario Strikers, it was one I missed on the GameCube back in it's day. I'm sure I'll like it more than Mario Strikers which I didn't find very fun, also found the lack of in-game music dull. Hopefully we'll get GameCube Mario Tennis and Golf which were great games.

So many great Gamecube games but many were third party and I guess we will never see them on Switch 2. Also the Gamecube had analogue triggers so many games relied on those for the full gameplay experience. It feels like Gamecube games are best experienced on other systems sadly.
Love your Avatar as bring back strong memories of Pilotwings on the super nintendo. The amount of hours I put into that game decades ago was huge. Super Nintendo was such an amazing console for its day.
@BonzoBanana The other consoles have quite a lot of third party games (especially NES/SNES/Mega Drive) so hopefully we'll get some. I'd absolutely love to see some of the GameCube Sonic games on it.
Yeah I'm a big fan of Pilotwings and changed my profile picture to try and will on a new game! And I always liked the flight instructors and found their facial expressions hilarious (especially when they were angry) I was so disappointed when the N64 one got rid of them and added all those goofy characters. Still a great game though.

There is a lot of stuff like this on GC that I would love to see on NSO, but licensing issues will probably prevent them from happening. Rogue Squadron isn't too bad since Disney fully owns it, but EA's James Bond, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings games have too many stake holders involved. Even stuff like SSX, Need for Speed, Def Jam, NBA/NFL Street would be awesome, but too much legal headache just getting music licenses in order.
We need to rethink how we do all this.
