Yet another palate cleanser before the February Direct. The Sunday timing is odd at first, but makes a little more sense after being reminded about the big American football games.

Fishin’ for Splatoon Raiders news.
As far as timing related to American football, here is the schedule:
Sunday, January 25th is the AFC and NFC Championship games. This is basically the semifinals of the NFL playoffs, the winner of each game plays in the Super Bowl. After that the NFL takes a week off, they have the Pro Bowl which is basically like an All-Star game, but no meaningful game is played that week. Finally, Super Bowl LX is Sunday, February 8th.
It is interesting that they would choose to host a Galaxy Movie Direct that day, but speaking of American football and the Super Bowl, maybe Nintendo could air a trailer for the Galaxy Movie during the Super Bowl and that may be part of the reason we're getting it now? That is a prime marketing spot, nearly every American is watching the Super Bowl so those commercial slots are highly valuable and sought after. If Nintendo can afford that they're really get attention for the Galaxy Movie.
According latest rumours general Nintendo Direct is expected on first week of February. Next week Nate will drop podcast so i guess more info in it. Hope we will get anything related to Monolith Soft and next Fire Emblem release date in general Direct.
It’s gonna be the first week or last week. I know we said before that they’ve had Directs during the Olympics in the past, but I just don’t feel like they want to do that this time around.
Just a feeling lol
But some Olympic events start February 4th even though the opening ceremony isn’t until the 6th, so they may end up hitting it anyway. That actually makes me wonder if they may hit us with something this week.
Nintendo showed Woolly World in the Galaxy movie Direct. Maybe even though Mysterious Book is coming in Spring, Switch 1 players still get Woolly World this year?
I don't think they have ever done a direct of any kind during Pokemon week. This one is supposed to announce Gen 10 for release this year. Which would make the first week most likely.
However, now I am thinking they will do partner/indie direct (sometime in Feb) and MAR10 direct only before the movie releases. Non-Mario releases before May will be Nintendo Today drops (like DK Returns update last week).
I was assuming next week but the fact that they did sooo many updates last week and had the movie direct on Sunday rather than the middle of the week makes me curious; this week seems pretty empty unless there are yet more minor game updates.
After looking back at the 2024/2025 Partner Showcases, I'm now leaning more towards Partner Showcase/general Direct than Partner Showcase/Mini. I was reminded that those 3 Partner Showcases (February 2024, August 2024, July 2025) say "Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase" rather than "Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase" so Nintendo may have dropped the Mini branding completely.
What I had in mind when I was predicting a Mini was something like:
Start with Splatoon Raiders (2 minutes)
Headlines for Age of Imprisonment, Mario Tennis Fever, Pokopia, SMB Wonder Switch 2 Edition, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Tomodachi Life Living the Dream (8 minutes total)
Spotlight for Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave (5 minutes)
End with MK World (2 minutes)
25 minutes worth of 3rd party news including a 5 minute spotlight on an upcoming Square Enix or Capcom game
In the past that probably would've been called a Mini because the 1st party side of things is rather light for new announcements but perhaps nowadays it might be considered a general Direct. The Partner Showcase variant of my prediction would be just the final bullet point and a headline for Age of Imprisonment.
If sales are anywhere near their projections from last year, they aren't in any hurry to splurge out as much stuff as possible in the next Direct. They play a really good long game. That said, it's really time we saw what Monolith aer up to dammit!
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Given a new Fire Emblem game is coming out this year, I assume there’s no chance of a remake of an older entry being announced for this year? I really want to see the SNES Fire Emblem games get released outside of Japan as a remake.
If they're giving it a dedicated Direct it means it's not that far away. Since they have Mario Wonder NS2E for March, my guess is mid-to-late February or early-to-mid April.
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is now a hidden gem of the Nintendo 3DS.
