I think at this point I'd rather just have trailers shadowdropped and ditch the Direct format for a while. Would spare having to deal with the current onslaught of overblown expectations, hype and end-of-Direct anger.

@N00BiSH Or people could just lower their overly-high expectations and realize a direct isn't bad just because it doesn't feature a new smash bros or 3D mario. I much prefer directs over random trailer drops because it actually lets us know what's going in the future, where as random trailers being dropped leaves us in the dark until they suddenly make an announcement.

From my perspective, it's more important that a Direct reveals things that are important/noteworthy (like a new game from a dormant franchise, a classic being made available on modern hardware, or something completely new and interesting) than it is to reveal things I'm personally interested in buying myself.
There have been Directs I was very happy with despite not planning to get anything announced (though most of the time, there is at least one or two announcements that really grab me).
@darkfenrir Exactly. Even if there isn't a game series that I love, so long as there's something I find interest in- I'm good with it. I'm not the largest Fire Emblem fan, but Fortune's Weave looks super good and made me want to play some of the older games that I've been meaning to get to for a while. Tomodachi Life is something I was begging for for a good while, so it was nice we got to see more of it. Prime 4 doesn't really grip my interest, but I'm still happy for the people who like Metroid Prime.

Does anyone else think we might get another full Direct before the end of the year? Keep hearing rumours of big games like Silent Hill 2 and RDR2 coming to Switch 2. Then there's also Splatoon Raiders info and the rumour of Nintendo getting it's own achievement system. If even some of the rumours are true, it seems like they'd need a full Direct to talk about them. Then there's the fact more and more game devs appear to have access to dev kits, which would bring in a wave of new games hopefully. Just looking at the Directs from the year Switch 1 released, and Nintendo did Directs in September, October AND November (although the latter two were solely based around one game each).
Think the timing would make sense for a November or December Direct, as I think Silent Hill 2 Remake would launch on non-Playstation consoles around the time of the new movie Return to Silent Hill, so they'd need some time to hype up the release before it comes out. Similar thing with RDR2, as GTA 6 is supposedly gonna launch in May, so you'd want some time to at least announce RDR2 Switch 2 edition before GTA comes out.
Anyway, that's my rambling case for a full Direct or at least a Partner Showcase in the next month to month-and-a-half.
I could imagine that there might be another Nintendo Direct at the end of November/beginning of December.
If Red Dead Redemption 2 and Silent Hill 2 Remake really are coming to the Switch 2 and they announce/show a few more first-party titles, they could boost Christmas sales even further with a Direct.
Arguing with stupid People is like playing Chess with a Pigeon. No matter how well you play Chess, the Pigeon will knock over all the pieces, poop on the board, and strut around as if it had won.
I think that a few random Twitter / Nintendo Today drops, the second Kirby Air Riders Direct, and maybe a Prime 4 Direct are the rest we're getting this year and then basically nothing until the usual early February. But I'd love to be proven wrong. 😃
Edit: I forgot about partner showcases and Indie Worlds, they might throw in one of those as well.

@AStupidID With the 3rd party games you listed, I think there'll be a Konami event which includes SH2 remake for Switch 2/Xbox meanwhile RDR2 for current gen being a standalone backup Rockstar announcement in case GTA6 needs to be delayed again.
I think there could be a Partner Showcase in October as Age of Imprisonment will probably get a demo pre-launch (both Hyrule Warriors Legends and Age of Calamity got a demo). But a general Direct in November/December I don't really see happening even though it would be neat.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah, I get what you mean, it would make sense for Konami to do another Silent Hill Transmission to talk about SH2R coming to Switch 2/Xbox, maybe talk about the inclusion of Born from a Wish, as they did with the Xbox release of OG SH2, and then give updates on the movie and Townfall.
And yeah, it does look likely that GTA 6 will be delayed again from what I've read. I'd be happy with a Partner Showcase though
Prime 4 Direct is desperately needed ASAP. It can't come soon enough. We've only seen small tidbits of gameplay and have little to no context on any of it, each new trailer seems to raise more questions than answers. Especially for the motorcycle segments, which could easily make the game feel very un-Metroidy if done wrong, we need details as to how that fits in to the gameplay loop (you would hope that it's more of a Hyrule Field-esque hub section, yes, but do we KNOW for 100% fact that's what they're doing with it?).
Hyrule warriors needs some more ads but doesn't need a full direct and there has already been one Kirby direct so the second can be not long before the game.
So... maybe around October 28 for prime direct?
I thought it would have happened by now but it definitely won't be too close to Pokemon. I'll be very surprised if there isn't a metroid direct at all.
@Bolt_Strike Definitely! There's such a vibe of Nintendo wanting to forget about Metroid4 as quickly as possible xD Just utter silence outside of the initial video, its very weird inclusion in the last Direct (no talking about it before or after, just throwing it in and moving on), and then total silence about the game since... makes me wonder if they're trying to lean on mystery or if they just do not care.
@Bolt_Strike They said in the September Direct that the journey to launch begins on October 28th with the Prime 1-3 artbook so to me that was effectively announcing there'd be another 1.5 months of silence about Prime 4. Makes sense as there was 4 other games releasing before Prime 4 (Galaxy 1+2, Legends Z-A, Age of Imprisonment, Air Riders).
I figure this week or next week will be the 2nd Air Riders Direct with the other week announcing a demo for Age of Imprisonment in some way (whether a standalone trailer or Partner Showcase). Then the Prime 4 marketing begins at the end of October.
I'm not too sure Nintendo will do a Metroid Prime 4 Direct, I think it's more likely they'll release a 5-10 minute extended gameplay overview trailer that contextualizes/explains everything we have seen of the game so far, and that's it.
We've reached the end of the week, Nintendo just focused on Legends Z-A but with that game now out hopefully Nintendo will start promoting the rest of their holiday lineup next week.
@D-Star92, broadcast date hasn't been announced yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if it happens soon.
