At this point the major thing we've got in favour of a Direct this month with February 7th/8th having already passed is the fact that for whatever reason, Microsoft chose to wait so long to do their "Business Update" event. Could be that they made an agreement with Nintendo that Direct would be the reveal of Hi-Fi Rush going multiplatform so they have to wait for after the Direct to do their event.
But I'm not holding out hope at this point, working on the principle that all we get this month is Pokemon Presents on February 27th.
@VoidofLight True, those titles did do well. It just always seems like Sonic is treated as the central pillar for SEGA so if that falls apart, the other stuff wouldn't be able to hold SEGA up.
@Grumblevolcano Honestly, I feel like Persona alone could keep Sega afloat. That series has been kicking off ever since 5, and has sold more than the last few Sonic games.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
Hate to say it, or maybe not. But, sonic games just feel so generic now so it's no surprise if they put out mediocre numbers compared to persona or yakuza. Superstars was an OK game imo. I haven't played frontier yet but that didn't have the best reception did it? Glad they're bringing back all those older titles in the near future such as golden axe, crazy taxi, Shinobi, etc.
@NintendoByNature I mean... Superstars could have been better than it was, but they also shot themselves in the foot releasing it the same week as Mario and Spiderman. Frontiers had very mixed reviews but they didn't help themselves making a really poor demo for it. Sonic games lately certainly could use some extra polish but it seems like their release strategies have just made things worse. They've definitely gone out of their way to avoid some of my money they could have easily obtained.
@FishyS for sure. But even if sonic released today, it doesn't even hold a candle to mario wonder. My whole point is that sonic games just feel mediocre in comparison to mario games. Even sonic 2 or sonic and knuckles aren't as engaging as any mario title imo. And I absolutely adored those back during the genesis hey day. Everyone gets so hyped with every new sonic title, and once the dust settles, we're usually left with a decent game, really good at best.
There's plenty of Sonic games I really like, my top 5 would be:
1. Generations
2. Adventure
3. Adventure 2
4. Colours
5. Mania
My most anticipated game of 2024 is tied between the Tomb Raider 1-3 collection and Sonic X Shadow Generations.
I would say more recent Sonic games (e.g. Forces, Frontiers, Superstars) generally could've done with more time in the oven. I still liked them though obviously a longer dev cycle allowing for a better game is much better.
It’ll either be announced in 8 hours or 32 hours if it’s happening this month

@NintendoByNature Yeah, pretty sure it was him. But just because he said it could be a partner Direct doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a partner Direct. Could still very well be a regular one, but with less focus on first party stuff

Hopefully tomorrow we get a direct announcement (or Wednesday)
Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)
Do you think it's strange we haven't heard anything from Pyoro yet?
Idk how far in advance he starts chirpin' away but part of me feels like we should have heard something by now if the Direct's expected in 2 days🤷♂️
@Nintoz If we're putting trust into leakers, I put more stock into Nate the Hate, and he's been talking about there being an upcoming Partner Direct for the past week or so.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician Pyoro has never been wrong dude, Nate has been wrong multiple times, according to him we would have gotten 4 Zelda remakes in 2021/2022 so...
I only 100% trust Pyoro.
