Topic: Mario Kart World

Really looking forward to MK World, although for battles I think I’ll stick to MK8 Deluxe.

Nintendo tends to not really care much for the battle mode these days , and this time we only have coin and balloon mode, so I’ll stick with 8 Deluxe’s Shine thief and Renegade Roundup, which were by far the best battle modes in the series.

@N00BiSH Usually I get annoyed by the constant bashing of the new VA, but yeah, that needed a second take lol.

You have to wonder what Nintendo's casting department was thinking when they went with Kevin.

@N00BiSH Do they only try one voice line and just go with it? I’m glad Mario said the name of the game, but what a bad sound file… I thought he did a bit better in Brothership, but now we’re back to Mar10 Day level of bad

@PikminMarioKirby I didn't care for his performance in Brothership either. His gibberish was mediocre at best and certain lines("LEW-EE-GEE" and OoHh "YEeaAH") got particularly grating as the game went on. I'm really not hearing much substantial improvement between titles, Kevin sounds as awkward/restrained here as he did in his last four games.

@N00BiSH Mmm yeah not as good as the god-like "Mario Kart 8!!" line but I'm happy they didn't leave it out

@Munchlax I expect my top five will be Luigi, Donkey Kong, Aurora Rosalina, Oasis Daisy and King Boo (especially if he gets his Luigi's Mansion look as a costume!) for now. It'll depend on what other costumes there still are too. Shy Guy will still be my top lightweight.

I don't expect to care about any of the gag characters.

@Munchlax Donkey Kong, Rosalina, and Goomba. Normally I'd throw in Wario, but the uh, current state of his vocal performance has me steering away from that possibility.

I get why people dislike the new VA, I really do. But it was going to happen, Mr. Martinet isn’t going to live forever and it’s better that they get a VA lined up rather than scrambling for one when he does pass. That said, yeah, some of the lines aren’t amazing. But I personally like all but the Mario Time one.

Mains will probably be Cow, Dolphin, DK, Bowser Jr., King Boo, and Cataquck. Maybe Pianta and Conkdor as well. (What, I’m indecisive lol!)

@Munchlax I don't know how soon I'll get the game and Switch 2, but when I get MKW, I'd just stick with favorites personally. I like playing as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, and Rosalina.

@CaleBoi25 putting the fact that Charles can still currently do the voices fine aside, they did a terrible job futureproofing a successor for him. A keen ear can tell that Kevin didn't have any sort of voice coaching for the role.

@Anti-Matter thank you for contributing absolutely nothing and telling me something I already know.

@N00BiSH Ehhh it's debatable if Charles could do the voices. Maybe Mario himself, but the Luigi voice he did for Mansion 3 just felt more like Waluigi than it did Luigi at times. This being said, I feel like they definitely could've gone for someone better as well- or at least voice trained Kevin more. His Mario isn't the best, but he does a good Luigi. Wish they could get a different Mario and Wario or something.

@VoidofLight He sounded perfectly fine in LM3 - different, sure, but certainly not worse. But yeah, multiple voice actors would've been a better alternative than trying to make an all-in-one Charles replacement with a guy who doesn't really have the range for that kind of job.
