@Pastellioli Really wish I liked the new design, but it might grow on me. Glad you're a fan though, I definitely can see why you and others like him with how goofy the look is.

Penguin, Monty Mole, Cow are probably my favourite three. Love Waluigi's outfits too!

Cold, but I wouldn't blame you for thinking that. It's really nothing against him as a person/actor - it's just that I don't think he's a good soundalike. I don't hear those characters when he voices any of them - just someone doing an impression, and that takes me out of the experience.

@N00BiSH I was being a little tongue in cheek with what I said (biggest hater is kind of a joke phrase of mine), but like I said earlier, I get where you're coming from. For me personally, he's sounded close enough that I didn't know they switched voice actors until the news started circulating.

Soooooooo where is Ninji?!?! C'mon Nintendo, you add COINCOFFER but you can't add a character that is a fan-fave and, y'know... people can actually name without looking it up?! And Cataquacks are here? And Peepas?! Even tho we have King Boo already?! There is no excuse for this laziness, how can you expect me to pay $80 dollars for a game without the goat in it?! (Greatest Of All Time, not an actual goat. Though there is a Cow so...)

Obviously, I jest. More than excited for this thing, June 5 can't come soon enough! And that soundtrack is going to be marvelous guys!

@Bigmanfan i see! It’s okay if you don’t like it. I do like both DK designs a lot. I actually never really played as DK in previous games or in MK8. Usually there I played as Tanooki Mario. I am absolutely going to main DK from how much more personality he has here, but I also think the enemy racers look fun to play as and look really funny in bikes and karts, so I’ll probably also main one of them alongside DK too! A lot of the newcomers look great

I personally prefer Kevin Afghani voice as new Mario voice after I played Super Mario Bros Wonder last month.
I'm not really interested with Charles Martinet voice as Mario after I compared both of them.

I'm not sure if anyone was 'expecting' a true story mode, but I for one was really hoping for one. The new game is pretty and I like the water racing but the game mostly didn't add what I wanted most. It's fundamentally Mario Kart. Which is fine. But also nothing that makes me particularly feel the need to buy it. To be fair, I have never owned Expansion Pack but may buy it for GameCube which will give me booster pass and therefore years more of entertainment from MK8. Maybe I'll eventually get World or maybe I'll skip a generation. A good story mode likely would have convinced me to cave in and get it early.

(Someone may rage respond to this post but I have been asking for story mode for years on these forums so I feel justified enough in my opinion; others can have different opinions)

That roster is insane. They finally added tons of interesting characters.

Gotchya. I never even considered a story mode for Mario Kart because it just seems so alien. Story in a Mario game, sure, but MK has always been a game you pick up and play to race or battle. At least, it has been for me. I do want more than just racing and battling though- another MK8 (despite how amazing Deluxe is) would seem boring. And that's where the free roam shines. Just getting gold on all the cups and unlocking 200cc and doing it again, will take considerable time. But then exploring the entire world, finding hundreds of hidden missions and unlocking outfits for the largest roster of any MK to date (Goomba! Fish-Bone! Penguin! Cactus! Wrench-Mole dude! Snowman! The long necked bird from 3D World! And so many others) is exactly the kind of single player content I want to sink my teeth into.

I liked Sonic All Star Racing Transformed Adventure mode but ultimately it was just races mixed with drifting challenges and the like, which I think I'll have more fun doing by exploring an open world and discovering the mission challenges for myself.

@JaxonH Random comment, but I really appreciate how positive you are even when someone is trying to semi contradict you. You always provide a constructive and informative response rather than arguing unnecessarily. Things get a little heated on the forums sometimes, especially with everyone's blood boiling in anticipation, so it's nice to have a calm polite voice in the room (calm as in temper, not excitement level).

I'm getting a really bad feeling about this game being another New Horizons situation. A situation where the game isn't worth the asking price, and has a shallow amount of content. So far- the direct being a rehash of old news just really rubs me the wrong way. The fact that the biggest selling points are racers being random track hazards in Karts, character costumes from the mobile game, and a really empty looking Open World that looks like it has little to actually do in it really just don't jive with me. I'd get this is the game were worth around 60 USD maybe- but 80 is genuinely pushing it given the serious lack of content.

I think people get too emotional about this stuff online. I would know- I used to be one of them. But as I got older I mellowed out and grew to appreciate the value in never taking a position without first fully understanding the position of the other person, and by doing so you learn to respect the views of others you disagree with.

I think a lot of people worry too much negativity will affect a game's success but I've learned it actually helps sales lol. It does! It goes back to "no such thing as bad publicity". Every time someone comments it bumps the thread back to the top and keeps the game in the center of conversation which actually promotes consumer awareness.

Obviously some people troll because they're just miserable, and nothing is ever good enough for them. They complain about everything. Never excited, never look forward to things- it's like gaming isn't a hobby of entertainment that brings them joy, it's an outlet to come online and vent their depression. Misery loves company as they say.

Those people I tend to just ignore because any attempt to have an educated discussion with them is futile. But most people arent like that. Most people are genuinely excited for stuff, and simply have genuine criticisms from time to time. I think those perspectives are valuable even if I don't necessarily agree.

I’m not a huge MK fan, although I did play a ton of MK64 in my ‘youth’ (!)

I took the plunge on the MK bundle though, which is actually pretty good value in the UK. Console and MKW for 430 £GBP (console itself retails 400 £GBP… so MKW only an extra 30!)

I wonder if Nintendo are just wanting to push people towards getting MKW as part of the launch bundle, by pricing it quite high as an independent purchase?

I’m more excited to play CP and SF6, but 30£ for MKW was too good to pass on I think

What about Eggshell Yoshi or Reindeer Yoshi, in addition to the characters with penguin suits.

I'm buying the console at launch exclusively to play Mario Kart for the first six weeks as I couldn't care less about any of the third party stuff but it's still going to be worth every cent and then some I feel. The console bundle feels like a steal but I would have still been pretty happy paying full RRP for this one if I had to.

The severe lack of Donkey Kong characters got me thinking;
maybe DK will have his own racing game on Switch 2.
